(CLO) Hong Kong (China) authorities recently said that an organization in this special administrative region operated a prostitution ring through social networking platforms, promoting Japanese adult film actors to attract customers.
More than 30 people, including Japanese adult film actresses, have been arrested by police in Hong Kong and Singapore in an international prostitution ring that charged up to HK$150,000 ($19,270) for sex, police said.

The ring used provocative images and adult film covers as marketing tools, with prices ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of Hong Kong dollars. Notably, the actors also attended meetings with clients in Hong Kong, where they charged up to HK$150,000 for sex, according to police.
Customers are instructed to make deposits via social media. After receiving the money, the line arranges meetings in hotel rooms. The organizers keep 50% of the proceeds from each transaction.
Police also said some of those arrested were Hong Kongers who had studied in Japan. These people were fluent in Japanese and helped connect with Japanese actors.
The case has exposed a large-scale prostitution network that used famous adult actors as promotional tools. The operation is part of efforts by Hong Kong and Singapore police forces to dismantle organized crime syndicates, especially those involved in transnational prostitution.
Currently, authorities are continuing to investigate to identify additional related subjects and the financial origins of this organization.
