The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) said that at the time of locking the online registration portal, the General Admission Support System of the MOET recorded a total of more than 733,000 candidates registering for admission, equivalent to 68.5% of the number of candidates registering for the 2024 high school graduation exam.

In 2023, more than 660,000 candidates entered their admission wishes on the system, equivalent to 65.9% of the number of candidates registering for the 2023 high school graduation exam.

Previously, in 2022, more than 616,000 candidates registered to take the university entrance exam, accounting for 64.1% of the number of candidates registering to take the high school graduation exam in 2022.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, from today (July 31) until before 5:00 p.m. on August 6, candidates must pay admission fees online.

After the schools announce the admission results (no later than 5 p.m. on August 19), and no later than 5 p.m. on August 27, the successful candidates must confirm their admission on the system. The successful candidates also complete the admission procedures according to the regulations of each school.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that registering for admission, paying fees, confirming admission on the system and then enrolling at the school according to the time specified by each school are mandatory regulations that candidates must follow.

Benchmark increase

According to Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, former Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, candidates who do not register based on high school graduation exam scores but put all their early admission wishes first are certain to be admitted. Those who are only considered for admission based on high school graduation exam scores or prioritize their wishes first to prioritize admission based on high school graduation exam scores before early admission wishes must wait for the admission results.

At this time, many universities have announced their expected admission scores. According to Dr. Le Anh Duc, Deputy Head of the Department of Training Management - National Economics University, the admission scores for many majors of the university this year may increase by 0.25-0.75 points compared to last year. In particular, the top majors will increase slightly - about 0.25 points, the middle majors will increase sharply from 0.5-0.75 points.

According to Mr. Le Anh Duc, this year the National Economics University will enroll about 7,000 students, and the school will reserve 18% of its quota for admission based on high school graduation exam scores. Analysis of the average score distribution of the exam subjects also shows a slight upward trend, so it is predicted that the benchmark score this year will increase. For 6 majors in the technical group such as artificial intelligence, information security, software engineering, data science, and information systems, the benchmark score may be above 26 points.

The representative of the Banking Academy also said that this year's admission scores may remain stable or increase slightly in most majors. Meanwhile, the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi forecasts that in 2024, about 13/27 majors of the school will have admission scores ranging from 20-21/30 points. The highest admission scores in the information technology group are computer science and information, data science with 34-35.5 points/40. Ranking second are mathematics and mathematics with admission scores ranging from 33-35/40 points. Majors with the lowest scores are geology, oceanography, water resources and environment, meteorology and climate with scores ranging from 20-20.5.

However, Dr. Tran Thanh Thuong, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said that if comparing the score distribution of exam subjects and the score distribution of admission combinations this year with 2023, the increase or decrease in exam subject scores is not significant.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, also commented that the admission scores of the schools will be stable, without too much fluctuation compared to last year, or if there is fluctuation, it will only be within a very small range, depending on the allocation of quotas according to the admission methods of the schools.

For example, in 2024, the allocation of quotas for admission based on high school exam scores of a certain major of a university is equivalent to that of 2023, so the admission standard score may be similar or slightly fluctuate compared to 2023.

However, if in 2024 the total admission quota based on high school exam scores is adjusted up or down, the admission score for that major based on high school exam scores will also tend to increase or decrease accordingly.

However, there are also opinions that predicting the exact benchmark is very difficult, especially for majors that are the trending choice of many candidates.
