(Dan Tri) - A recent survey by recruitment consulting firm Robert Walters shows that 71% of Vietnamese people living abroad plan to return to their homeland to live and work within the next 5 years.
Notably, this rate is significantly higher than that of the other three countries in the Southeast Asian region that were also surveyed, such as Indonesia (60%), the Philippines (62%) and Singapore (58%).
60% of people surveyed by Robert Walters - a recruitment consultancy founded in 1985 in the UK and operating in 27 countries - said the economic situation would influence their decision to return to Vietnam or not. Emotional, social and cultural ties to Vietnam also motivate many overseas Vietnamese to return home.
In the context of the global economy facing many fluctuations, the stable development of many outstanding fields in the country has helped strengthen the decision of a large number of overseas Vietnamese to return and contribute to their homeland.
The survey also pointed out many other key factors that increase the desire to return to their homeland among overseas Vietnamese.
62% of respondents said that their emotional, social and cultural connection to Vietnam motivated them to return home. This number increased by 13% compared to the last survey in 2021.

Not only that, 53% of survey participants said that they would have attractive career opportunities in Vietnam. In addition, 40% also said that they wanted to return home to conveniently take care of and be closer to their family and relatives in Vietnam.
The economy is also a factor that positively affects Vietnamese people abroad. Up to 66% said that they believe in the stability and development of the Vietnamese economy, and this is also the top reason why they choose to return.
In addition, opportunities to develop business investment projects and better living standards in Vietnam are also attractive factors for them to return.
According to the survey, the factors that this group of employees care about are work, salary and benefits. Regarding salary, 27% of Vietnamese people abroad said they could accept a salary reduction of 30% or less compared to their current salary if they returned.
Meanwhile, 26% said they wanted a salary that was commensurate with their experience and role, as well as the general labor market level.
