Gia Lai City Trail 2024 – The Great Forest Dream is organized by the People's Committee of Pleiku City in coordination with the People's Committee of Chu Pah District, VietRace 365 Joint Stock Company and Gia Lai Marathon Club. The race is attended by more than 6,800 athletes from 53 provinces and cities of Vietnam and 30 foreign athletes from 11 countries such as the UK, USA, Netherlands, China, Japan, Belgium, etc.
Athletes enjoy the yellow color of wild sunflowers on both sides of the road
Athletes compete in 5 distances including 2 km (for young athletes under 10 years old, held on November 16), 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, 42 km with the running route in Pleiku City and Chu Pah District.
The race is held during the time when the Central Highlands enters the most beautiful time of the year. The race route passes through the famous landscapes of Gia Lai province with both sides of the road filled with the yellow color of wild sunflowers.
In the 42 km distance for men, athlete Ha Quang Thang of Gia Lai took the lead with a time of 3 hours and 3 minutes. In the 42 km distance for women, athlete Nguyen Thi Duyen of Gia Lai finished first with a time of 3 hours and 36 minutes. Athlete Nguyen Thanh Dat, also of Gia Lai, took only 1 hour, 18 minutes and 22 seconds to complete the 21 km distance. Meanwhile, in the 5 km distance for men, members of the Dak Lak athletics team dominated the top group with the names Nguyen Van Viet Hung, Hoang Van Hung, Le Hoang Phi...
The road runs through the scenic spots of Gia Lai province.
Mr. Doan Huu Dung, Chairman of Pleiku City People's Committee, said: "The race is one of the largest cultural and sports events ever in Pleiku City and Gia Lai Province. This is also an opportunity for Pleiku City as well as localities and businesses to introduce and promote the cultural values of the Central Highlands, spreading the message to friends and tourists about a Pleiku - Green Plateau for health, taking green tourism development in conjunction with sports activities and preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the nation...".
After the race, the Organizing Committee and Gia Lai Marathon Club will allocate a portion of the budget and call for sponsors for the programs "Warm clothes for children" and "Lighting up the village roads" for children and people in difficult circumstances in Pleiku City and Chu Pah District.
