Currently, in Quang Ninh province, there are nearly 24,000 people with disabilities, of which severe and extremely severe levels account for more than 90%; nearly 4,000 children in special circumstances, of which nearly 2,000 are orphans.
In recent years, despite the attention of the State and Quang Ninh province, and the support of philanthropists, agencies, and businesses, many disabled people and orphans still face many difficulties in housing, employment, care, education, medical treatment, and social contact. These are the subjects who need the care of the State and the joint efforts of the community.
Held annually since 2009, the campaign "Linking Hands of Love" is a meaningful activity, aiming to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and social communities in assisting people with disabilities and orphans.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Do Manh Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans, acknowledged and praised Quang Ninh province as well as agencies, units, enterprises and philanthropists for their active contributions to the support work; at the same time, he requested all levels, sectors, organizations and individuals to continue to build bridges of charity to care for and improve the lives of people with disabilities and orphans.
At the launch, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in sponsorship work, exemplary disabled people and orphans overcoming difficulties to rise up in 2024 received certificates of merit from the Central Association and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province.
Units and individuals also registered to support the Provincial Fund for the Protection of People with Disabilities and the Disabled with a total amount of 4 billion 446 million VND.
