More than 300 foreign students study at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy

In the 2024-2025 school year, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy will train 11 undergraduate majors, including a new major in biomedical engineering; 90 postgraduate majors and 100 continuing education programs. In terms of training scale, the school currently has over 11,000 undergraduate students and over 4,000 postgraduate students. Up to now, the school has trained more than 29,000 doctors, pharmacists, and bachelors who have graduated and worked at medical units and facilities nationwide.

In this new school year, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy welcomes more than 2,200 students admitted to the school’s majors, including 100 Indian students admitted and studying medicine at the school. Currently, there are more than 300 students from India, Belgium, England, the United States, Cambodia, etc. studying short-term and long-term in the majors of medicine, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, endocrinology, nursing, etc.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee acknowledged the contributions of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in training medical human resources for Can Tho City and the whole Mekong Delta region; having a team of students who always actively participate in community and social activities.

"I hope that the school will always be united, overcome all difficulties and challenges, innovate in teaching, to train generations of good, dedicated and dedicated medical professionals for the community. At the same time, affirm the quality, reputation and position of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy domestically and internationally," Mr. Hien emphasized.

Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is ranked 48th among all universities in Vietnam, one of the top 4 universities in the health sciences sector in Vietnam, and in the top 245 universities in Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Principal Nguyen Trung Kien had many messages for the young generation and new students: "I believe that your results today are worthy and valuable achievements of 12 years of studying and serious exams.

Ahead of you is a new journey, a relatively long journey with many difficulties and hardships. I hope you continue to study and practice well. Promote the spirit of solidarity and help each other, especially with Indian students, to help you study well at this school so that you can return to serve your country," said Mr. Kien.

In the upcoming orientation, the school will continue to innovate teaching and learning methods, including theoretical teaching management, focusing on clinical practice management. At the same time, it will complete 10 integrated university training programs, open new training codes to meet the new development needs of the Mekong Delta region...
