More than 3,250 Vietnamese students receive scholarships from a Korean corporation

At the scholarship award ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of April 12, Ms. Jung Ga-yeon - Deputy Consul General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City - said that since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam has become Korea's third largest trading partner.

Meanwhile, South Korea has also become Vietnam's third largest trading partner and its largest investor.

According to Ms. Jung Ga-yeon, there are currently more than 200,000 Vietnamese and Korean people living in the neighboring country, which is a strong bridge connecting the two countries.

In particular, Lotte Group has many member companies operating in Vietnam, contributing to improving the convenience of Vietnamese people's lives, accompanying the development of Vietnam's economy.

Ms. Jung Ga-yeon said that besides business, the Lotte Scholarship Fund has been awarding scholarships to talented students from prestigious schools in Vietnam for 15 years as a corporate social responsibility activity.

"Enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese youth not only contributes to the sustainable development of businesses but also greatly contributes to the economic development of Korea and Vietnam," Ms. Jung Ga-yeon shared.

Ms. Haesun Chang - President of Lotte Shin Kyuk-Ho Global Scholarship Fund - said that Lotte Scholarship Fund in Vietnam has been making great contributions to nurturing talents, promoting Vietnam - Korea diplomatic relations and contributing to the development of Vietnam.

In addition, Ms. Haesun Chang also expressed her hope that with the support from the Lotte scholarship fund, students will have the conditions to develop their personal abilities to become an excellent member of Lotte Group in the future.

At the ceremony held at Lotte Saigon Hotel, 60 excellent students from 11 major universities in Ho Chi Minh City received 60 scholarships worth 800 USD each (about 20 million VND/scholarship).

Lotte Group said the Lotte Shin Kyuk-Ho Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 with the aim of supporting disadvantaged students, improving the learning environment and enhancing the quality of education. Since 2008, Lotte has begun awarding scholarships to students in Vietnam.

As of 2023, the Lotte Scholarship Fund has supported 3,250 students in Vietnam with a total scholarship value of up to 1,457 million won (equivalent to 1,080,800 USD).
