More than 260 athletes compete in sports at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival

This morning, December 14, at the Quang Tri Province Multi-purpose Gymnasium, the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri Province organized official competitions in sports : crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug of war, and slingshot shooting.

The sports festival takes place from December 14-16, 2024, gathering more than 260 athletes from 11 provinces and cities, including: Bac Giang , Dak Lak, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Son La, Hue, Vinh Phuc and Quang Tri, competing in the following events: crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug of war and slingshot shooting.

In crossbow shooting, athletes compete in the following events: individual male, individual female standing shooting; female team, male team standing shooting; individual male, individual female kneeling shooting; male team, female team kneeling shooting.

In the pole push event, male athletes compete in the following weight categories: up to 55kg, over 55-60kg, over 60-65kg, over 65-70kg; female athletes compete in the following weight categories: up to 50kg, over 50-55kg, over 55-60kg, over 60-65kg.

In slingshot, athletes compete in the following events: individual men, individual women standing shooting; team men, team women standing shooting; team men and team women standing shooting; individual men, individual women kneeling shooting; team men, team women kneeling shooting; team men and team women kneeling shooting. In tug of war, athletes compete in the following events: 560kg men, 520kg women, 540kg mixed men and women.

Right after the opening ceremony of the sports festival, the athletes competed in two events: pole pushing and crossbow shooting. With good preparation in all aspects from the training sessions at home, the athletes confidently entered the competitions with the determination to win.

According to the organizers, the quality of the competition in the two sports was quite high. The athletes always competed with all their might in the spirit of solidarity, honesty, and nobility. The number of people coming to watch and cheer for the athletes was quite large. The facilities serving the organization of the competitions in the sports were guaranteed; the security and medical forces performed their assigned tasks well.
