(Dan Tri) - Dozens of people in Kon Tum tried to use ropes to rescue the driver and assistant truck driver trapped in floodwaters in Ko Chat village, Mang But commune, Kon Plong district.
On December 29, the People's Committee of Mang But Commune, Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province said that local people promptly rescued two victims who were swept away by water while crossing an overflow tunnel.
In recent days, Kon Plong district has been experiencing heavy and prolonged rains, causing water from upstream to flow strongly. This situation has caused deep flooding in Ko Chat village, Mang But commune, causing traffic disruption.
On the evening of December 28, a truck carrying goods was moving from Kon Plong district to Tu Mo Rong district when it was swept away by water while passing through the Ko Chat village culvert.
When the car was swept away, water flooded into the cabin. Driver Hoang Ngoc Ly (born in 1995) and assistant driver Le Van Hai (born in 1990), both residing in Kon Tum city, quickly jumped onto the car door to call for help from the people.
More than 20 people from Ko Chat village, Mang But commune used ropes to pull the driver and the assistant to the shore. After more than an hour of effort, both were brought to shore safely.
On the morning of December 29, Mang But commune authorities and local people continued to make efforts to bring the crashed truck ashore.
