The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank, the French Development Agency in Vietnam, the French Treasury, and the European Investment Bank, and is implemented with the technologies and expertise of leading French companies.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that after more than 3 months of commercial operation, the Nhon - Hanoi Metro has demonstrated the appeal of this new form of public transport. To date, the elevated section of the line has served over 2 million passengers, becoming a convenient daily mode of transportation for a significant portion of the capital's population.
The delegates performed the ceremony to officially launch the commercial operation.
The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee also requested that the management agencies and operating units of the elevated urban railway line always ensure convenient and safe operation for the people.
At the same time, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board, contractors, and construction units are requested to focus on accelerating the construction progress of package 3 (construction of the underground section) to complete the entire line as soon as possible. The donors should closely coordinate with the investor and relevant parties to ensure convenience during the investment and construction process and to promote the construction progress of the remaining part of the Project.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Vietnam, Olivier Brochet, expressed: The Nhon - Hanoi Station pilot urban railway project is not only a modern public transport project, but also a symbol of cultural fusion, a testament to the enduring friendship between Vietnam and France.
According to him, the project utilizes state-of- the-art French urban rail technology and consistently holds a key position in high-level exchanges between the governments of the two countries.
