(PLVN) - Kon Tum Culture - Tourism Week 2024 with the theme "Cultural experience - Nature discovery " is a large-scale event to honor national identity, promote tourism potential, and strengthen international cooperation, with the participation of more than 1,000 domestic and foreign artisans and artists.

On the evening of December 11, at 16/3 Square ( Kon Tum city), Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the 5th Culture - Tourism Week and the 2nd Gong and Xoang Festival of Ethnic Minorities in the province in 2024.

Kon Tum Provincial Culture and Tourism Week 2024 is not only a major local cultural event but also an opportunity to connect and exchange between artisans, artists and ethnic minority communities in the province, domestically and internationally.

The event aims to honor traditional cultural values, promote the image of Kon Tum land and people to friends near and far, thereby promoting the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values ​​and the unique tourism potential of the Central Highlands in the context of integration.

Ms. Y Ngoc - Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee spoke at the opening ceremony.

The event attracted more than 1,000 artisans and artists from districts and cities in the province, along with the participation of Lao and Cambodian students and art troupes from An Giang province. In addition to the unique cultural and artistic activities, the event also organized a conference to review the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Kon Tum province and Attapeu and Sekong provinces (Lao PDR) for the period of 2022-2027, contributing to strengthening the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Y Ngoc - Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee said: “Kon Tum is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, located in a strategic geopolitical position of the dynamic Central Highlands. This is the homeland of the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, an intangible heritage recognized by UNESCO. Kon Tum is also proud of many important historical relics, famous landscapes such as the poetic Mang Den eco-tourism area, Chu Mom Ray National Park - ASEAN heritage garden, and Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve - home to the rare Ngoc Linh ginseng. All of these create an ideal foundation for economic, cultural and tourism development.”

The Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee hopes that this event will not only leave a strong impression on visitors and delegates but also be an opportunity to call on investors to join hands in developing the cultural and tourism potential of the province. Accordingly, activities such as the Cultural - Tourism Week and the Gong and Xoang Festival are the bridge to strengthen solidarity among ethnic groups, build an advanced culture with strong national identity, and at the same time promote sustainable socio-economic development.

One of the important highlights at the event was the announcement ceremony of the Prime Minister's Decision approving the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area (Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province) until 2045. The plan aims to turn Mang Den into one of the key national tourism development centers, with the orientation of preserving natural landscapes, sustainable development and improving community life.
