Workshop to summarize the Project on training knowledge and skills for officials working in international integration for the period 2021-2025

On April 15, in Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy chaired a workshop to summarize the Project "Training knowledge and skills for officials, civil servants, and public employees working in international integration for the period 2021-2025".

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong delivered the opening speech at the Workshop summarizing the Project on fostering knowledge and skills for officials working in international integration for the period 2021-2025.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong attended and delivered a speech at the workshop; the event was attended by Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy; and more than 100 delegates representing ministries, sectors, localities, ambassadors, experts, lecturers and diplomatic staff.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy, emphasized the importance of the Project “Educating knowledge and skills for cadres, civil servants and public employees working in international integration” – a large-scale national project approved by the Prime Minister to be implemented in two phases: from 2016-2020 and the current phase from 2022-2025.

Dr. Nguyen Hung Son said that the Project aims to improve the capacity of officials from the central to local levels in the context of increasingly deep international integration. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Academy are assigned to take charge of implementing the Project, closely coordinating with ministries, branches and localities nationwide.

“The success of the Project is not only reflected in the number of courses and students trained, but more importantly, in the maturity, confidence and professionalism of the staff when participating in the process of building, deciding and implementing foreign policies at both the central and local levels,” Dr. Nguyen Hung Son assessed.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that after 5 years of implementation, the Project "Training knowledge and skills for cadres, civil servants and public employees working in international integration in the period of 2021-2025" is one of the key efforts of the Party and State to prepare high-quality human resources, effectively serving the process of proactively and actively integrating comprehensively and deeply into the world.

Welcoming the positive results achieved by the Project, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that this is a practical contribution to the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on building a contingent of cadres at all levels, especially at the strategic level, with sufficient qualities, capacity and prestige.

At the Workshop, the Deputy Minister directed the discussion to focus on three key contents. Firstly, comprehensively evaluate the results of the Project implementation in the past time, including the advantages, difficulties, challenges as well as the achievements and remaining limitations; Secondly, deeply analyze the new situation and the requirements for foreign affairs and training of international integration officials, especially in the context that Vietnam is implementing important resolutions of the Politburo such as Resolution No. 59 on international integration, Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology and innovation, as well as Resolution No. 18 on reorganizing the political system apparatus; Thirdly, propose specific measures and directions to continue to effectively implement the Project in the coming time, ensuring to closely meet the political and professional requirements of training and fostering officials in the new situation.

Delegates highly appreciated the results achieved by the Project, especially the formation of a framework of knowledge, skills and necessary foreign languages ​​at both basic and advanced levels, creating an important foundation for developing the capacity of staff working in foreign affairs and international integration nationwide.

Reporting at the Workshop, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Acting Head of FOSET, Diplomatic Academy, said that over the past 5 years, the Project "Training knowledge and skills for cadres, civil servants and public employees working in international integration for the period 2021-2025" has achieved many positive results, contributing to improving the integration capacity of cadres from the central to local levels.

Specifically, the Project has successfully organized 2 seminars and 90 intensive training courses on knowledge, skills in foreign affairs and specialized foreign languages, attracting nearly 9,000 students from ministries, branches and localities across the country.

The training contents are designed to closely follow the orientation of Resolution 22-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration, while meeting the needs and characteristics of each agency and unit in integration work.

According to Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, the courses have brought practical results, helping cadres, civil servants and public employees to be equipped with basic knowledge and skills, ready to actively and effectively participate in foreign affairs activities in the context of comprehensive and deep international integration today.

The workshop to evaluate the implementation results of the Project "Training knowledge and skills for cadres, civil servants and public employees working in international integration in the period 2021-2025" took place effectively with many positive comments from representatives of the Project's beneficiary units, Ambassadors, experts and lecturers.

Delegates highly appreciated the results achieved by the Project, especially the formation of a framework of knowledge, skills and necessary foreign languages ​​at both basic and advanced levels, creating an important foundation for developing the capacity of staff working in foreign affairs and international integration nationwide.

Through training activities, the Project not only helps improve professional qualifications but also contributes to expanding the coordination network, enhancing exchanges and experiences between agencies and units and between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ministries, branches and localities. This contributes to promoting efficiency and synchronization in implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on international integration.

The outstanding results achieved in the 2021-2025 period are considered an important premise to continue promoting the training and development of integration cadres in the coming time. On that basis, the Workshop unanimously recommended continuing to maintain and actively implement this task in the next period, and at the same time proposed to develop a comprehensive project to systematize and improve the quality of training and development of cadres working on international integration in ministries, branches and localities in the new period.
