National Scientific Conference Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification

(PLVN) - The National Conference to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 20. The conference is organized by the Ministry of National Defense in coordination with the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History - the Standing Office of the Conference Steering Committee, said that the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification is an important milestone in the history of the struggle for national liberation of our army and people under the leadership of the Party, headed by President Ho Chi Minh ; it is an opportunity to look back on the past, promote the heroic tradition of the nation and continue to build a peaceful, developed and strong Vietnam in the future. In recent years, there have been many research projects and conferences at many levels, exploring this event from many different perspectives.

This conference continues to affirm and clarify that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was a victory of the will to unify the country and the aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people; a victory of Vietnamese mettle and intelligence and the strength of great national unity associated with the strength of the times in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

The workshop will also provide new materials, profound scientific arguments and foundations to clarify the preparation process, the course of the campaign, the role and coordination of the forces participating in the campaign. In particular, the workshop will draw valuable lessons from the resistance war against the US to save the country, apply and promote them in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In addition, the workshop will clarify the role of the great Northern rear and the great international support for the Vietnamese people in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Finally, it will assess the stature, historical significance, reasons for victory and lessons learned in the resistance war against the US to save the country in general, and the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975 in particular; apply and promote in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The conference is expected to be attended by about 700 delegates.
