Over 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) has achieved many glorious feats, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation, national reunification and protection of the Fatherland. Throughout that glorious journey, our Army has always been loyal to the Party, loyal to the country, devoted to the people; always been the core force in the cause of national liberation, protection of the Fatherland, serving the people. Our Army always "fights for the people, serves the people". That is the steadfast oath, and at the same time the motto of all officers and soldiers in the Army.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Hoang Ngan emphasized: The workshop "80 years of the Vietnam People's Army fighting for the people, serving the people" is a valuable opportunity for us to look back at the heroic historical journeys of the Vietnam People's Army; at the same time, affirm the role and responsibility of the Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. With the participation of leaders, scientists, and their dedicated and profound opinions, the workshop will further clarify the nature, tradition and great values ​​that the Vietnam People's Army has brought and is bringing; at the same time, propose practical solutions to continue promoting the tradition and nature of the Vietnam People's Army, building our Army to be increasingly disciplined, elite, modern, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new period.

In his report to introduce the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dung suggested that delegates focus on clarifying four issues: Continuing to analyze more deeply the history of the establishment and development of the Vietnam People's Army; clarifying the leadership role of the Party over the Vietnam People's Army; continuing to affirm the nature and tradition of our Army; preserving and promoting the nature and tradition of the Vietnam People's Army in the new situation... Summarizing the workshop's discussions, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Van Su affirmed: Each discussion report is an independent research work, explaining each specific content, contributing to clarifying many theoretical and practical issues in building the Vietnam People's Army and the all-people national defense, which are generally expressed in the main contents, including: Affirming the guidelines, policies, and correct and creative leadership of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh in the process of building, fighting, maturing and glorious victory of the Vietnam People's Army.

At the conference, delegates presented papers with rich content and high scientific content. These are valuable documents that deepen the understanding of the process of birth, growth, nature and tradition of the Vietnam People's Army.
