On the morning of February 22, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa coordinated with Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company and PepsiCo Vietnam Foods Company Limited to organize a field workshop to evaluate the FL 2215 potato variety production linkage model specializing in processing in Hoang Hoa district.

In the 2023-2024 winter crop, the Hoang Thanh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hoang Hoa) has rented land from many households to grow potatoes with a concentrated area of 16 hectares. Including a pilot model of 4 hectares of potatoes in association with Viettrans Logistics Joint Stock Company planted with FL 2215 variety. This is a potato variety imported from abroad by PepsiCo Food Company Limited and exclusively distributed to purchase and process potato snacks in the chain.

During the production process, the Cooperative was transferred the techniques of planting, caring, preventing pests and diseases and purchasing all products by the Company. FL 2215 potato variety has many advantages, such as: strong growth, many layers of tubers, resistance to complex weather, good resistance to pests and diseases, especially aphids, green wilt, and downy mildew. Potatoes meet high requirements in terms of size, quality and uniformity.
After 100 days of planting, the potato area has now been harvested, with an average yield of 32 tons/ha. With the company purchasing at the field at 8,000 VND/kg, after deducting costs, each hectare of potatoes brings in a profit of 120 million VND.

This is a model of potato cultivation with large, concentrated areas, applying full mechanization to production to reduce labor, reduce production costs and increase product value.

The result of the model is money for Thanh Hoa's agricultural sector to continue expanding potato acreage according to concentrated commodity production areas, forming a "4-house" link in the agricultural production and consumption chain, increasing income value per unit area.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Viet Chon said: Thanh Hoa has about 2,500 - 3,000 hectares of land that can produce potatoes. Farmers in localities in the province have a lot of experience in potato production. Therefore, the agricultural sector is very eager to cooperate with businesses inside and outside the province to produce potatoes, linking production with processing and consumption.
At the same time, encourage and create conditions for organizations and individuals to accumulate land to create concentrated growing areas in the direction of commodities, applying high technology, on a large scale through methods of land contribution, land lease, and land use rights transfer according to agreement and voluntariness between land owners and people in need of land use, in accordance with regulations.
Along with that, the agricultural sector effectively implements the production support policies of the Central and the province that are still in effect; invests in and completes the transportation system and infrastructure connecting to concentrated production areas to create favorable conditions for goods consumption and product processing.
