ANTD.VN - Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Duc Hien chaired a workshop to assess the implementation of policies and orientations on the development strategy of Vietnam's oil and gas industry according to Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
On the morning of September 8, 2023 in Hanoi, the Central Economic Commission coordinated with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) to organize a workshop on "Assessing the implementation of policies and orientations on the development strategy of Vietnam's oil and gas industry according to Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW dated July 23, 2015 of the Politburo and proposing key viewpoints, goals, tasks and solutions for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2045". Comrade Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Project Editorial Team attended and chaired the workshop.

The workshop was co-chaired by comrades: Le Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Deputy Head of the Editorial Board. Attending were representatives of the Central Party Office, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, representatives of leaders of central and local ministries, branches, the Vietnam Petroleum Association and member units of Petrovietnam.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, comrade Le Manh Hung said that with 62 years of tradition and 48 years of establishment and development, Petrovietnam has always received special attention from the Party and State. Up to now, Petrovietnam has become the leading economic group of the country and made important contributions to the socio-economic development of our country. He stated that after more than 7 years of implementing Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Petrovietnam has basically completed the goals and tasks assigned in Resolution 41-NQ/TW. However, in addition to the advantages in implementing Resolution 41-NQ/TW, new situations, difficulties and challenges have emerged affecting the development of the Vietnamese oil and gas industry and Petrovietnam, such as scope, area of operation, policy mechanisms, market difficulties, digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, etc. These difficulties and challenges need to be analyzed and evaluated comprehensively and objectively, on that basis, proposing to the Party and State strategic adjustments of the oil and gas industry and Petrovietnam in the coming time.

Speaking at the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Editorial Team, presented the main contents of the draft report on the Project to assess the implementation of Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW. He emphasized that the Editorial Team building the Project wishes to listen to comments from experts, managers of Petrovietnam and related ministries and branches on major and key contents of the draft Project such as: propaganda work, implementation of Resolution 41-NQ/TW, especially the issue of institutionalization; results of implementation of viewpoints, general goals, specific goals; discussion and assessment of achieved results, limitations, shortcomings and causes; assessment of implementation of tasks and solutions;... He also requested experts to express their opinions and discuss frankly and objectively about the domestic and international context; Propose specific viewpoints, goals, and directions, especially major issues such as: oil and gas market, oil and gas industry infrastructure construction; on attracting and improving the efficiency of investment capital use, science and technology development, innovation; developing high-quality human resources; on international cooperation, green growth, and sustainable development of the oil and gas industry, in which the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group plays a core role as a national energy industry corporation.

The workshop focused on assessing the implementation of Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW and the implementation of the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution. Delegates focused on discussing a number of issues such as: assessing Vietnam's oil and gas potential; New approaches and thinking on the development strategy of Vietnam's oil and gas industry in the new situation; Perfecting mechanisms, policies and laws for the development of Vietnam's oil and gas industry by 2030, with a vision to 2045; Developing reserve infrastructure and perfecting the mechanism and policies for petroleum business to meet domestic market demand; The development of Vietnam's oil and gas industry is closely linked to the tasks of national defense - security - foreign affairs... Delegates have made recommendations and proposals to ensure that they keep up with the trend of the times, as well as to remove existing problems, build specific mechanisms and policies to ensure rapid and sustainable development of the oil and gas industry, and need to soon submit to the Politburo for consideration and issuance of a new resolution on "Strategic orientation for the development of Vietnam's oil and gas industry to 2030, with a vision to 2045".
In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, emphasized that the opinions at the workshop will be absorbed, synthesized, and refined by the Editorial Team in the process of building and completing the Project Report to be submitted to the Politburo.
