Attending the workshop were the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai city; representatives of a number of socio-political organizations, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of communes and wards in the city.

According to the report presented at the workshop, since the movement was launched, communes and wards in the city have proactively included the content of implementing a civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals in the regulations in village covenants and conventions on building cultural villages, groups and cultural families; 100% of villages and groups have built village covenants and conventions and have been recognized by the authorities at the same level.

Comrade Doan Van Ngan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai city, informed about the implementation of civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals in the city.

Basically, communes and wards in the city have well implemented the regulations on civilized lifestyle in weddings, some cumbersome and costly procedures such as engagement, dowry, engagement ceremony and re-appearance have been reduced, engagement ceremony is often integrated before the wedding day, the phenomenon of holding big feasts, inviting many guests to eat and drink lavishly, for a long time, drinking a lot of alcohol, offering cigarettes has been significantly reduced; bride and groom's costumes are in accordance with national traditions...

During funerals, most families keep them simple, limit wreaths, banners, lavish meals, and reduce bad customs...

At the workshop, delegates contributed many practical ideas, close to the actual situation of the city and of communes, wards, and residential areas, promoting their role and responsibility, and voluntarily responding to the implementation of weddings and funerals according to cultural lifestyles.

At the same time, many solutions were proposed to implement the movement in the coming time such as: Strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels in implementing directive documents and state management of the implementation of civilized lifestyle; promoting the role of Steering Committees for implementing the movement at all levels, Mobilization Committees at villages and residential groups in propagating and mobilizing households to implement civilized lifestyles in organizing weddings and funerals; proposing to commend and reward collectives and individuals with good and exemplary practices...
