The budget estimate for organizing a folk dance performance, sent by a talent training center in District 12 to class 8A1 of Nguyen Chi Thanh Secondary School, is causing a stir when it is shared on social networks because the budget is up to more than 21 million VND.

Specifically, as planned, the cost of choreography for the folk dance performance is 10 million VND, the cost of renting performance costumes is 5.6 million VND, the cost of food and drinks for 10 members of the art team along with sports activities is 6 million VND. The total cost for the 3 contents is 21.6 million VND.

In an open letter to the class, the board of representatives said that one parent in the class donated 3 million VND, and the remaining 18.6 million VND needed to be contributed.

Informing VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Lai Thi Bach Huong - Principal of Nguyen Chi Thanh Secondary School - said that the school did not instruct classes to mobilize large donations from parents for the performance. As soon as she learned of the incident, she asked the homeroom teacher and the parent representative board of class 8A1 not to mobilize the above amount of money from parents.

Ms. Huong also added that after the incident, the parents working at the talent training center promised to sponsor all expenses for the class to stage the performance. The students' food expenses during practice will depend on the parents' ability to contribute and perform.
