75 years of establishment and development (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2025), the Vietnam Journalists Association has continuously grown, becoming a strong political-social-professional organization, gathering and uniting journalists across the country, making an important contribution to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Contribute to affirming the position of Vietnamese Revolutionary journalists

On April 21, 1950 - 75 years ago, implementing the direction of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh, in Roong Khoa hamlet, Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, the first Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association (Vietnam Journalists Association) was held, under the chairmanship of General Secretary Truong Chinh.

This is also one of the earliest established political-social-professional associations. The congress unanimously approved the charter, program of activities, and elected the Association's Executive Committee consisting of 10 journalists, with journalist Xuan Thuy as Chairman.

With the establishment of the Association of Vietnamese Journalists, press activities during the resistance war were raised to a new level, contributing to encouraging and motivating the army and people of the whole country to achieve the great victory of the resistance war against the French invaders.

Right from its inception, the Party has identified the press as an important front in the field of culture and ideology, and each journalist is a soldier. Notably, the outstanding leaders of our Party are all journalists, typically President Ho Chi Minh, followed by comrades: Truong Chinh, Pham Van Dong, Xuan Thuy, Vo Nguyen Giap.

The Association's mission since its establishment is to protect the legitimate rights and interests of journalists in their work; to foster professional expertise, journalism skills, and professional ethics for members; to supervise compliance with laws and regulations on professional ethics of journalists; to participate in the development and implementation of mechanisms and policies on information and journalism; and to carry out foreign affairs activities in accordance with the law.

Continuing the tradition of 75 years since its establishment, the Vietnam Journalists Association has grown in both quantity and quality. From nearly 300 initial members, the Association has now attracted more than 25,000 members, operating in 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, 21 Inter-Associations and 223 affiliated Associations nationwide.

Under the leadership, direction and guidance of the Party and State, together with the support and facilitation of the people, over the years, generations of journalists have always strived to fulfill their responsibilities, build an increasingly strong Association, and make worthy contributions to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.

The Association's activities have had many positive changes, going into depth, contributing to further enhancing the position, role, and effectiveness of the political, social, and professional organization of journalists and having a pervasive influence in social life.

The Vietnam Journalists Association at all levels has always stood side by side with its members and press agencies to operate proactively, effectively, flexibly, closely following the grassroots, promptly, honestly and objectively reflecting the activities of the people and the entire political system, contributing significantly to orienting public opinion, creating consensus in society, strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party, the State and international friends, and understanding the achievements and important results the country has achieved in the recent past.

The team of journalists constantly study, improve their political qualities, professional qualifications, uphold professional ethics, have a spirit of dedication and commitment for the benefit of the country and people; pioneer in the fight against negativity, corruption, waste, in difficult and dangerous circumstances.

This effort has ensured the successful completion of important political tasks, while providing practical support to members and all levels of the association in overcoming challenges, improving work efficiency and affirming the increasingly solid position of Vietnamese journalists in society.

According to Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi, a notable point in recent times is the innovation in the leadership method of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

By strongly shifting to the grassroots, focusing on core issues and closely following the actual operations of each level of the Association, this approach has helped the Vietnam Journalists Association promptly grasp the situation and give appropriate and effective instructions.

In addition, strengthening discipline, raising sense of responsibility and attaching importance to inspection and supervision work, contributing to ensuring that all activities of the Association take place in accordance with the direction and regulations.

Keeping "bright eyes, pure heart, sharp pen" in the digital age

Towards the 75th anniversary of its founding, the delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a journey to the source, respectfully offering incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Memorial House in the ATK Dinh Hoa Special National Relic Site; visiting the Vietnam Journalists Association Founding Site in Roong Khoa village, Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district; and visiting the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School National Relic Site.

At these meaningful locations, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh and delegates respectfully bowed before the souls of their predecessors; and at the same time promised previous generations of journalists: Despite facing countless difficulties and challenges, despite the changing world, the steadfast qualities of revolutionary journalists in each of us remain intact as in the beginning, continuing the glorious tradition, continuing to write the epic of revolutionary journalism in the language of the digital age, worthy of the trust of the Party and the people.

Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said that the new challenges facing the contemporary generation of journalists are no longer bombs and bullets of war but "thousands and tens of thousands of fake news, facing chaotic information storms from social networks." Each journalist must become a "border soldier" in cyberspace, protecting readers and maintaining "clear eyes, pure hearts, sharp pens" in the digital age.

Together with the Central level, in recent days, all over the country, the Journalists Association at all levels have organized many activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding to honor the historical tradition, identity and role of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press; at the same time, affirm the position and contribution of the Association in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland; pay tribute to previous generations of journalists, and commemorate the contributions of the first revolutionary journalists.

The activities also aim to commend and reward advanced models and new factors; propagate and educate professional traditions, improve ethics and social responsibility of journalists; arouse pride and will to continue the tradition of revolutionary journalism; encourage and motivate journalist members to overcome difficulties, continue to maintain the revolutionary spirit, fight against bad and toxic information, protect the truth, protect the Party's ideological foundation; affirm the role of journalism in the new period, especially in information work, public opinion orientation and innovation.

The Vietnam Journalists Association has identified key tasks, including continuing to reorganize the apparatus, focusing resources on activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press, building an increasingly strong Association, enhancing professional ethics for journalists and promoting activities to support members.

With great efforts and determination, the Vietnam Journalists Association is firmly on the path of development, continuing to contribute to the country's revolutionary journalism career - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi affirmed./.
