In 2023, economic diplomacy has been comprehensively and effectively implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ministries, branches and localities. In nearly 60 high-level diplomatic activities since the beginning of 2023, economic content has become the focus, bringing specific and substantive results. Foreign relations continue to be expanded, the framework of relations with 30 strategic partners and comprehensive partners has been upgraded. Economic diplomacy activities have contributed to bringing our country's total import-export turnover in 2023 to 683 billion USD, of which the trade surplus was about 28 billion USD, the highest ever; FDI attraction reached nearly 36.6 billion USD, an increase of 32.1% in the context of shrinking global trade and investment; realized FDI capital reached nearly 23.2 billion USD, the highest ever.

In 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends resolutely implementing the commitments and agreements that have been reached, transforming them into projects with concrete results; accelerating the promotion of renewing traditional growth drivers, effectively exploiting new growth drivers; promoting international economic integration and linkages, ensuring the highest national and ethnic interests, balance and harmony in international conduct; strongly innovating in coordinating the implementation of economic diplomacy, increasing investment in resources for implementing economic diplomacy. At the conference, ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad reported, informed, and proposed solutions to effectively implement economic diplomacy in the coming time.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches, units, localities and enterprises to focus on overcoming the disruption of production and supply chains, improving product quality and brands; continuing to consolidate existing markets, expanding new markets; coordinating well in the spirit of harmonious benefits, sharing risks and proactively adapting to the rapidly changing world situation. Ministries, branches, localities, enterprises and people need to affirm their brands, increase quality, listen and understand, share with their partners to work together, enjoy together, win together, develop together; be proactive in developing brands, sustainable exports, grasp the situation, especially policies, effectively promote the country's resources in the import and export process.
