BTO-The first national conference on the development of Vietnam's cultural industries was held nationwide this morning, December 22. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung chaired the conference.
Also attending were representatives of leaders of relevant ministries, departments and branches; leaders of associations, unions and organizations; representatives of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam; leaders of organizations, businesses and agencies operating in fields related to cultural industries; and experts and artists working in cultural industries. The conference was connected online with 63 provinces and cities. At the Binh Thuan bridge, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung chaired.
Promoting cultural values
Reporting on the implementation results of the "Strategy for the development of Vietnam's cultural industries to 2020, with a vision to 2030", Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung assessed: Cultural industries are becoming a trend and are identified as making an important and sustainable contribution to the country's growth. The production value of Vietnam's cultural industries in the period of 2018 - 2022 is estimated to contribute an average of 1,059 million billion VND (equivalent to about 44 billion USD). The labor force in cultural industries is increasing quite rapidly, with an average increase of 7.4% per year in 5 years, attracting about 2.3 million workers in 2022, accounting for 4.42% of the total labor force of the economy... The emergence of cultural industry centers and creative cities has been changing the economic structure of the region.
The panorama of the development of cultural industries in the fields of cinema; cultural tourism; performing arts; fine arts, photography and exhibitions; advertising; architecture; design; publishing; fashion; television and radio; software and entertainment games; handicrafts has the potential for rapid, long-term and sustainable development, with the value of honoring culture, national identity, and positioning the national brand in the international arena.
Unblocking the development of cultural industry
At the conference, representatives of ministries and sectors shared the results of developing cultural industries in assigned fields. At the same time, they pointed out barriers and challenges and frankly proposed directions, solutions, mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and promote the development of cultural industries. Some delegates said that to develop high-class - quality - different cultural tourism products, it requires high-quality local human resources, understanding of national culture as well as meeting advanced techniques and technologies. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training and local authorities to develop a project to train local human resources. In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to continue to pay attention, commend and encourage, especially by conferring the titles of artisans of craft villages.
In addition, many opinions proposed that the Government amend and supplement specific policies and mechanisms; amend and supplement the Law on Advertising; establish an inter-ministerial and sectoral cultural industry action subcommittee; have a mechanism to encourage innovation; preferential policies for investment in the cultural sector; in key sectors, there should be specific orientations...
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated: Vietnamese culture is the crystallization of thousands of years of civilization, creative labor, and steadfast struggle to build and defend the country by the Vietnamese ethnic community, and is the result of the exchange and absorption of the quintessence of many world cultures to constantly improve and develop. Vietnamese culture has forged the soul, spirit, mettle, and heroic Vietnamese people who are hospitable and friendly to friends, making the glorious history of the nation shine.
With the special attention of the Party, the State and the participation of all levels, sectors and localities, over the past time, cultural industries have gradually become important service economic sectors, contributing positively to socio-economic development... However, compared to some other sectors, our country's cultural industries have not yet fully exploited their potential and advantages. The Prime Minister commented: In order for our country's cultural industry to develop quickly and sustainably, effectively exploiting its potential and strengths, there needs to be a strong change from awareness, thinking to action, innovation in thinking, breakthroughs in the way of doing things, building a Vietnamese cultural industry "Creative - Identity - Unique - Professional - Competitive", on the cultural foundation of "National - Scientific - Popular" of the 1943 Vietnamese Cultural Outline...
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with the Government Office to absorb opinions and promptly complete them to submit for promulgation appropriate documents after the conference.
