BTO-On the afternoon of August 10, the Steering Committee for innovation and development of cooperative collective economy (Cooperatives) of the province held a conference to review the collective economic situation in the first 6 months of 2023.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Huynh Lam Phuong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Southern Standing Office - Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; Mr. Ho Cong Duong - Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Alliance - Deputy Head of the Steering Committee and more than 120 delegates who are members of the Steering Committee for innovation and development of collective economy and cooperatives in the province; representatives of the Standing Steering Committees of districts, towns and cities; Members of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Cooperative Alliance and Chairmen of the Board of Directors, Directors of cooperatives and People's Credit Funds in the province.
At the conference, Mr. Phan Dinh Khiem - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union reported a summary of the economic situation and cooperatives in the first 6 months of the year. Accordingly, as of June 30, 2023, the whole province had 3,210 cooperative groups, an increase of 3.7% over the same period in 2022. There were 216 cooperatives and 2 cooperative unions with a total number of cooperative members of nearly 50,000. Of which, 196 cooperatives and cooperative unions were operating and 22 cooperatives and cooperative unions had stopped operating. The total operating capital was more than 3,413 billion VND, the revenue in the first 6 months of 2023 was estimated at more than 143 billion VND, the profit was more than 20 billion VND. In the first 6 months of the year, 10 newly established cooperatives, an increase of 6.4% over the same period in 2022 and 2 cooperatives were dissolved.
In general, the activities of KTTT and Cooperatives have promoted the role of gathering, mobilizing, and changing the way of thinking and working for people in effectively applying scientific and technological advances, applying digital technology to improve production and business efficiency. Cooperatives, Cooperative Groups, and People's Credit Funds have made many efforts to rise up, have the right direction of operation, and contribute to the restructuring of the agricultural sector, gradually shifting the structure of crops and livestock according to the regional scale in accordance with local planning, contributing to supporting the development of household economy, creating jobs for people.
Regarding the operation of the Steering Committee as well as the results of implementing the tasks of developing collective economy and cooperatives in the first 6 months of the year, the Cooperative Union - the specialized agency of the Steering Committee, coordinated with the Department of Planning and Investment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial Party Committee to issue Action Program No. 43-CT/TU to implement Resolution No. 20 of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to innovate, develop and improve the efficiency of the collective economy in the new period; Plan No. 1538 of the Provincial People's Committee to implement Resolution 09/NQ of the Government and Action Program No. 43 of the Provincial Party Committee (14th term) on implementing Resolution No. 20 in the period 2021 - 2025. Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Cooperative Union has organized 5 training courses on the Law on Cooperatives and the policies of the Party and the State on developing cooperative economy. The provincial Cooperative Union also supports 25 cooperatives to participate in trade promotion fairs and domestic supply-demand connection conferences; supports cooperatives to participate in trade promotion programs; supports connection and consumption of OCOP products of the provinces...
At the conference, members of the Steering Committee, representatives of cooperatives and credit funds in the province discussed and pointed out the difficulties and limitations that cooperatives are facing. With limited capital and facilities, no modern machinery and equipment, lack of land, factories, and capital for investment in production, many cooperatives have to temporarily use members' houses. In addition, the ability to cooperate in production, consumption - processing and participation in product value chains is limited. Most agricultural cooperatives only stop at the production stage. Membership development of cooperatives is very limited, most cooperatives cannot attract new members...
To gradually overcome difficulties as well as complete the targets for the last 6 months of the year, the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of the Collective Economy and Cooperatives of the province will continue to organize propaganda to disseminate Resolution No. 20 to the masses and the Law on Cooperatives supplemented and amended in 2023, creating a premise to guide cooperatives in implementation when the law comes into effect.
In addition, effective cooperative economic models will be replicated; creating conditions for household economies to develop in the fields of agriculture, industry, trade and services, contributing to the formation of value chains from production to processing and consumption; creating conditions to gradually form high-tech agricultural - industrial - service complexes. Mobilizing all capital sources to invest in equipment and technology innovation, implementing digital transformation. Establishing new cooperatives associated with new rural construction, focusing on developing advantageous agricultural products in the province...
