Central Appraisal Council: Agreed to propose the Prime Minister to recognize Phuoc Long district as meeting advanced NTM standards in 2024

On the morning of April 22, 2025, in Hanoi, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment - Tran Thanh Nam, the Central Appraisal Council met to appraise Phuoc Long district (Bac Lieu province) to meet advanced new rural standards (NTM) in 2024. Attending the meeting, on behalf of Bac Lieu province, there were comrade Huynh Huu Tri - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Phuoc Long district.

In 2017, Phuoc Long was recognized by the Prime Minister as a district meeting the NTM standards. Phuoc Long district not only strives to maintain and improve the achieved criteria, but also builds 9 criteria for an advanced NTM district. Through the review and verification results of the provincial departments and branches, Phuoc Long district ensures 9/9 criteria for a NTM district according to the regulations of the Set of Criteria for the period 2021 - 2025. Up to now, Phuoc Long district has 7/7 advanced NTM communes, of which 5 communes meet the NTM model standards (Vinh Thanh commune is a model for production, Phong Thanh Tay A commune is a model for security and order, Hung Phu commune and Vinh Phu Tay commune are models for education, Vinh Phu Dong commune is a model for culture) and 2 communes meet the criteria for a type V urban area (Phuoc Long commune, Phong Thanh Tay B commune), Phuoc Long town meets the urban civilization standards...

The district has 31 special agricultural products, which are recognized as 3-star and 4-star OCOP products. Currently, the average income per capita of the district reaches over 100 million VND/person/year (nearly 25 million VND higher than the average of the province), the rate of poor households is decreasing rapidly and sustainably. The rate of people satisfied with the results of building advanced new rural areas in Phuoc Long district is 99.43%...

At the meeting, the Council unanimously approved and submitted to the Prime Minister to recognize Phuoc Long district as meeting advanced NTM standards in 2024.
