In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hong, former Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi emphasized: “In a solemn and proud atmosphere, the Nghe An Association in Hanoi solemnly organized the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); meeting with Nghe An people currently living in Hanoi, who participated in the police force, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers during the resistance war against the US to save the country. This is an opportunity to review the heroic history of the nation, pay tribute to the great sacrifices of our ancestors, and affirm the responsibility of today's generation in the cause of building and developing the country.

Exactly 50 years ago, on April 30, 1975, the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign ended in victory, opening a new era for the Vietnamese people - an era of peace, independence and unity. This great victory was not only a brilliant milestone in the history of the nation but also had great significance for the national liberation movement in the world.
This is the result of the ardent patriotism, indomitable will and iron determination of the entire Vietnamese people under the talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. The victory of April 30 not only liberated the South but also unified the country, bringing our country into an era of independence, freedom and development.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Nghe An - the hometown of beloved President Ho Chi Minh - made great contributions in both human and material resources. According to statistics, the total number of Nghe An people participating in the army over the periods was nearly 600,000 people; participating in the youth volunteer force was 45,000 people; participating in the frontline citizens was 160,000 people. During the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, the whole Nghe An province had 45,000 martyrs; 56,000 wounded soldiers; 2,885 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; 75 Heroes of the Armed Forces; more than 130 general officers in the army and police.
Many outstanding generals from Nghe An contributed significantly to the victory of the resistance war, such as: General Chu Huy Man, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc, Lieutenant General Do Trinh, Lieutenant General Hoang Kien, Lieutenant General Hoang Nghia Khanh, Major General Hoang Niem, Major General Le Xuan Kien, Major General Hoang Dan...

The meeting was emotional, listening to the stories of the veterans who directly participated, telling about the victory of April 30, 1975.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Xuan Luong - Permanent Vice President in charge of managing the Nghe An Association in Hanoi emphasized the significance of this meeting: "The Nghe An Association in Hanoi organized a meaningful meeting to express gratitude. Coming here, we can meet directly with living witnesses, flesh and blood people in the resistance war against the US to save the country...
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, we are even more proud of the resilient tradition of our people and our homeland Nghe An. This is also an opportunity for each son of Nghe An to remind himself of his responsibility for the development of his homeland and country in the new period…”.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere full of pride and emotion of the children of Nghe An living and working in the capital, contributing to the victory in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign on April 30, 1975./.
