On December 6 and 7, in Mong Tu city, Yunnan province, China, the delegation of the Ha Giang Provincial Border Guard led by Colonel Nguyen Quang Quyet, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, and the delegation of the Van Son Regional Border Guard led by Colonel Dong Quan Long, Political Commissar of the Van Son Regional Border Guard, Chinese People's Liberation Army held a meeting on border work in 2024.

During the talks, in the spirit of solidarity, friendship, respect, cooperation, and proper implementation of the principles of border diplomacy, the two sides exchanged information on the security and order situation in the border area. At the same time, they assessed the results of coordination in managing and protecting the border, border markers, and propagating and educating the law for residents in the areas on both sides of the border, especially the "3 legal documents on the border".
The two sides also exchanged regulations and agreements on border management and management of land border gates between Vietnam and China; coordination in the fight against all types of crimes, human trafficking, storage and transportation of drugs, flammable substances, explosives, organizing illegal entry and exit for others, smuggling and trade fraud; and management of people, means of transport and goods passing through border gates and openings on the border.

In the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen information exchange and direct the stations to maintain regular and ad hoc meetings, regularly inform each other about the situation of border management and protection, and activities of various types of criminals; organize bilateral patrols; coordinate well in inspection, supervision, and construction activities in the management areas; organize cultural and sports exchanges between units as well as people of both sides and create favorable conditions for businesses, traders and people in the border areas of both sides to exchange trade and develop the economy.
At the end of the talks, in Mengzi city, Yunnan province, China, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding, maintaining a regular and ad hoc meeting regime between the two sides in the coming time.
