Nam Dinh Fans Association dissolved

Members of the Nam Dinh Fan Club often sit in the middle of the B stand of Thien Truong Stadium to cheer for their home team.

The decision was made after a meeting on the same day with the participation of 27 members of the Executive Committee of the Association and representatives of fan clubs in the province. Accordingly, 100% of members agreed to dissolve and stop all cheering activities on the field.

The Nam Dinh Football Supporters' Association will not be involved in football support activities of other members. In addition, the Association will hand over its office at Thien Truong Stadium to the Stadium Management Board, and will no longer keep the fanpage name of Nam Dinh Football Supporters' Association, but will change it to "Nam Dinh Football Past and Present".

The decision to dissolve the team stems from the match where Nam Dinh lost 1-2 to Cong An Ha Noi on August 2 at Thien Truong Stadium in round 4 of phase II of V-League 2023. That day, although still having a chance to compete for the championship, Nam Dinh changed eight positions in the starting lineup, and had actions that were considered to lack a positive spirit.

Fans at Thien Truong Stadium immediately reacted strongly by throwing drums onto the field and burning shirts during the match. On the morning of August 3, Nam Dinh Fan Club returned a large number of shirts that the club had given away for free, by collecting them and placing them in front of the office of the Director of Nam Dinh Green Steel Joint Stock Company. After this incident, the club did not have any dialogue with the Fan Club.

After the match, many fans declared that they would not come to the stadium to cheer for Nam Dinh until the end of the tournament. In round 5 of phase II, a group of Thanh Nam fans were still present at Lach Tray stadium to cheer for Nam Dinh in the match where Nam Dinh lost to Hai Phong 0-2, but this group was not part of the Nam Dinh Fan Club.

Nam Dinh Fan Club was established in the 2000s, and has gone through many ups and downs with the club, such as winning the V-League runner-up position in 2004, winning the National Cup in 2007, and being relegated in two consecutive divisions in 2010 and 2011. After eight years, Nam Dinh returned to the V-League but often struggled with the relegation race. In early 2022, Nam Dinh had a new sponsor and invested in buying many quality players a year later with the ambition to compete for high positions.

Before Nam Dinh, SLNA fans also took drastic actions in round 21 of V-League 2022, because they thought the club played superficially. Instead of cheering for SLNA's away match against Ho Chi Minh City Club, thousands of SLNA fans went to Binh Duong Stadium to cheer for Ha Tinh Club.
