In July 2024, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to preside over and coordinate with the Hoi An City People's Committee and relevant units to research and advise the Provincial People's Committee on the policy of building Hoi An into a foreign affairs center of Quang Nam. The Standing Committee of the Hoi An City Party Committee directed the City People's Committee to proactively coordinate with the provincial departments and branches to advise on specific projects.
