After receiving feedback that some underage students watched the movie Mai labeled 18+, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism inspected and supervised the failure to strictly implement the age regulations for viewers watching the movie Mai.
Inspectors from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism verified that the theater allowed underage audiences to watch the movie 'Mai'.
On February 22, Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the inspection team had checked a number of film screening units, including the National Cinema Center in Hanoi, one of the locations attracting a large number of viewers at the present time.
At the National Cinema Center (Hanoi), Mr. Liem directly inspected ticket sales, guided customers to buy tickets, controlled the age of audiences at the ticket counter, cinema rooms, and warned about labels on movie tickets and screening notice boards.
Mr. Vu Duc Tung, Acting Director of the National Cinema Center (Hanoi), said that in the past, the situation of audiences going to the cinema even though they were not old enough to watch movies according to the classification and labeling still occurred, but through the work of controlling and raising awareness and self-awareness of viewers, this violation has been well implemented, and so far at the National Cinema Center, this violation rarely occurs.
The movie "Mai" is labeled T18 because it contains some "hot" scenes of the two main characters Mai (Phuong Anh Dao) and Duong (Tuan Tran).
In the case of Tran Thanh's movie Mai , which was released during the Lunar New Year holiday, it was so "hot" and attractive that some young people or families with children under 18 still went to the theater. " In these cases, the theater staff clearly explained the age control according to the law and refused to sell tickets," said Mr. Vu Duc Tung.
Acknowledging that the National Cinema Center has deployed and implemented well the regulations on controlling the age of moviegoers, Chief Inspector Le Thanh Liem said that the implementation of displaying film classification levels and warnings has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the 2022 Cinema Law (displaying film classification levels on projection screens, websites, online ticket sales applications, direct ticket counters and other suitable forms).
The Chief Inspector of the Ministry also said that, along with direct inspection and supervision, on February 21, the Inspectorate of the Ministry sent an official dispatch to the Inspectorate of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and local Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, requesting to strengthen inspection and examination of compliance with legal regulations on cinema at cinemas.
To strengthen the state management of cinema, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the Inspectorate of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to strengthen the inspection and examination of the dissemination of films in cinemas, ensuring that moviegoers are of the right age according to the classification, and if violations are detected, they must be strictly handled according to the law. The results will then be reported to the Inspectorate of the Ministry for synthesis and reporting to the Minister.
