In the early cold of the season that has just arrived in the mountains and forests of the North, 347 students of Bac Quynh Primary School happily participated in the School Health and Hygiene Festival and the inauguration ceremony of 27 toilets for children in Lang Son organized by the For Vietnamese Stature Fund, TH Group, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank and the National Volunteer Center (under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union) in coordination with Lang Son Provincial Youth Union.
Overview of the School Health and Hygiene Festival and the inauguration ceremony of 27 toilets for children in Lang Son, sponsored by the For Vietnamese Stature Fund, TH Group, and Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank.
These are the next 27 projects to be inaugurated in the Project to build 1,000 school toilets under the "Wish for Children" Program - calling on the whole society to join hands to support students and teachers in difficult areas, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas.
Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate 27 toilets in Lang Son under the 1,000 toilets for children project sponsored and accompanied by the For Vietnamese Stature Fund, TH Group, and Bac A Bank.
“ Today I was very happy to hear the experts from the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature come to promote and remind us about oral hygiene and personal hygiene. They also reminded us to wash our hands thoroughly after each time we go to the toilet and before eating and drinking.
Now I don't have to hold my pee because the school restroom is always packed with friends during recess, Mom. Now I feel very comfortable because the new restroom is spacious. There are 2 restrooms for the boys, the same for the girls. If the other restroom is occupied, I can go to another empty restroom without having to wait or queue for a long time, " Duong Thi Hai Thanh excitedly shared with her mother about the new restroom.
Student Duong Ngoc Thanh Truc excitedly shares the knowledge on how to use the toilet properly that she just learned from experts of the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature.
Sharing the same feelings with Quynh is her close classmate - Duong Ngoc Thanh Truc, who excitedly shared: “ The old toilet was small and had no light bulbs, so it was dark, stuffy and smelled very bad. Even though I still had to go there to go to the toilet because I couldn’t hold it until I left, I was very scared.
During recess, my friends often push and shove each other to go to the toilet. I always have to wait for my friends to finish their turn, so every time I need to go to the toilet, I feel very uncomfortable.
Since the new toilets were built, I no longer have to wait long and I no longer fear the stench and dirt. Because now the school toilets are much larger and cleaner. Each toilet has electric lights and door latches so it is very safe.
We were also instructed by experts from the For Vietnamese Stature Fund on how to use the toilet properly, such as flushing and washing our hands after using the toilet, and not littering with trash or paper. In particular, I will always remember not to throw paper in the sink anymore, but only put it in the trash can according to regulations .
The new spacious, bright and clean toilets contribute to taking care of the health of students at Bac Quynh Primary School, helping them feel more comfortable and confident when going to school.
Not only does the VSF 1,000 Toilets project provide handwashing instructions, hand sanitizer, and funding for communication, training, and events to enhance students’ knowledge and skills.
Among them, there are training courses on personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, proper use of toilets, or knowledge about adolescent health care... organized by VSF for nearly 200 teachers, parents and students of grades 4 and 5 at Bac Quynh Primary School, Bac Son district, Lang Son province.
Now, from students to teachers, parents and people of Bac Quynh commune have a better understanding of basic knowledge about gender, how to take care of reproductive health for minors, as well as how to prevent abuse and unwanted pregnancies.
Students also learn scientifically and systematically about the signs of puberty in each gender, how to behave appropriately with the opposite sex, and how to detect abnormal signs of the body during puberty.
Equipping knowledge about personal hygiene, reproductive health, etc. is extremely necessary for students.
In addition, children are instructed in proper hand washing and genital hygiene. These are important knowledge and skills that contribute to protecting health as well as building a sense of respect for those around them. This helps children develop physically and mentally, become healthy citizens and make positive contributions to society.
In order to remind and spread that important knowledge, teachers and students of Bac Quynh Primary School organized a drawing contest on the topic of clean water, personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. After the preliminary round, at the School Health and Hygiene Festival, the organizing committee selected 7 groups of works to participate in the presentation contest.
Student Duong Van Thi, class 4A2, presented a presentation with the message "Let's join hands to protect the environment like protecting a real dream!"
Student Duong Thi Mai of class 5A1 excellently presented her exam with her own sincere feelings: “ Last summer, I went to Hanoi to visit my cousins. When I went to their school, it was the first time I knew about such a large and clean restroom for students. The female restroom alone had 8 rooms. Stepping inside, there was a hand-washing area with a large sink, a shiny mirror, fragrant soap, and decorative green plants.
I dream that my school can have clean and beautiful toilets like that.
The joy of students of Bac Quynh primary school on the School Hygiene and Health Day and the inauguration ceremony of 27 toilets for children in Lang Son.
How lucky! The For Vietnamese Stature Fund came to the school and built us a new toilet! It's super clean!
Now I don't dream much anymore, I will work with my friends and the cleaners to keep the restrooms clean like new, just like keeping my dream. Because I know that when I join hands to keep my school's restrooms clean, it also means I have protected the living environment, protected the sleep of myself and my friends ."
