TPO - Responding to a question from a Tien Phong Newspaper reporter about the Lunar New Year holiday for students in Ho Chi Minh City at a press conference on the socio-economic situation this afternoon, Ms. Nguyen Minh Bach Lan, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, said that they are proposing to adjust the holiday time for students.
According to Ms. Lan, based on the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the 2024-2025 school year plan for all levels in the area, the Lunar New Year holiday for students in the city is 9 days, starting from January 25 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month).
However, based on the actual situation of teaching and learning plans of schools in the city, the Department of Education and Training is making a report and submitting it to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval on implementing the Lunar New Year holiday to ensure consistency and create favorable conditions for the activities of students, teachers and families during the holiday.
Ms. Lan said that the current difficulty is that the school year in Ho Chi Minh City is 18 weeks for semester 1 and 17 weeks for semester 2, so the schedule for semester 2 is just right, so if the time to adjust the Tet holiday is extended, educational institutions must calculate to ensure the content of the teaching program is in accordance with the framework.
However, the representative of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has not yet provided specific information on the proposed plan for how many days students will be off school. It is expected that the city's education sector will announce the official Tet holiday schedule for students after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approves a suitable plan.
