In response to the International Day of the Girl Child (October 11), more than 1,000 students from a school in Hanoi joined hands to draw many pictures on the topics of "Prevention of violence and abuse against girls" and "Vision of the future of girls".
Ha Dong Secondary School (Ha Cau Ward, Ha Dong District, Hanoi) was established in March 2024. To date, the school has more than 1,200 students, including more than 600 female students.
Since the beginning of the new school year, the school has coordinated with agencies and units to organize propaganda sessions and talks with students on the topic of "Prevention of violence and child abuse".
In response to the International Day of the Girl Child (October 11) this year, the school launched a campaign for students to draw pictures on the topics of “Prevention of violence and abuse against girls” and “Vision of the future of girls”.
After more than 1 month of implementation, 45 paintings were selected for display. The content of the paintings is rich, the presentation is vivid, highlighting the theme.
"Among many forms of propaganda, we decided to organize students to draw pictures. Because through visual and vivid images, students will remember longer. From there, it contributes to raising their awareness of the issue of preventing and combating child abuse, especially against girls," said Mr. Nguyen The Hao, Principal of Ha Dong Secondary School.
In addition to displaying at the communication event in response to International Day of the Girl Child, the school will then display in the Art Room, in the Youth Union and Team activity rooms, and in the school hallways.
The paintings attracted special attention from students. Through the paintings, students not only raised their awareness of “prevention of violence and child abuse”, but also raised their awareness of “prevention of school violence and social evils”.
Student Le Thao Linh, class 7A2, Ha Dong Secondary School, next to her favorite painting. "I hope that girls will be cared for and protected more, without the ideology of male superiority and female inferiority, and the mindset of blaming the victim anymore," Linh shared.
Mr. Nguyen The Hao shared that in the current context, the school mainly focuses on teaching and learning. “We hope that political and social organizations, especially the Women's Union at all levels, will always pay attention, create conditions, and connect so that there will be more and more communication programs about children, especially for girls,” Mr. Hao expressed.
