A group of students from Cu M'gar Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Cu M'gar district, Dak Lak) have created a bilingual comic book in Vietnamese - Ede with the content "Preserving and promoting Ede ethnic identity".

The project "Preserving and promoting Ede ethnic identity through bilingual comic books in Vietnamese - Ede" won second prize at the provincial level in the Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship Competition for high school students in the 2023-2024 school year organized by the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province.

The series focuses on the customs, habits, patriotic traditions, heroes, culture, people, cuisine, some epic works, long poems... of the Ede people in a realistic and close way. Through the series, the group of students wants to convey the message of preserving and promoting the national cultural identity to generations of ethnic minority students.

The group of authors of this series consists of 15 students. After more than 6 months of hard work and research with the support of teachers at the school, the series "Preserving and promoting the identity of the Ede ethnic group" was completed.

The series consists of 6 volumes: The life of the people of the Central Highlands with 5 short stories; Spring, come, come (adapted from the short story "Spring, come, come" by writer Linh Nga Nie Kdam); Uncle Ho and the Central Highlands (adapted from the memoir "Excerpt from the memoir "Aspiration of the Central Highlands" by Mr. Y Ngong Nie Kdam); Catching the sun goddess (based on the Ede epic: The song of Dam San); Ede national heroes; Some customs and practices of the Ede.

H'Rên Nie Kđăm shared: "By participating in the bilingual series, we want to remind students to be aware of preserving and promoting the Ede ethnic culture in particular and the Vietnamese cultural identity in general. My friends and I want to develop this project in the village where we live and continue to write about other ethnic minorities."

Ms. Phan Thi Minh Le, the main instructor for the group, shared that creating a bilingual comic book in Vietnamese - Ede language helps to develop students' existing abilities and qualities. The comic book is also a product of Stem teaching and learning. Students have applied knowledge from many subjects such as: Literature, Fine Arts, Information Technology, Ede language...

Cu M'gar Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities is mainly for ethnic minority students. In addition to performing the same tasks as other secondary schools, special education, focusing on preserving and promoting ethnic minority culture is the school's core task.

Ms. Vuong Thi Huong, Vice Principal of the School, said that the comic book series has been put on the digital system by the School. Each comic book will have a QR code, scanning the code will have the function of listening and reading.
