'FIRST® Tech Challenge' is one of the oldest international robotics competitions for high school students around the world. For the first time held in Vietnam, the robot competition following FIRST®'s format and standards and accompanying activities attracted more than 2,000 students nationwide to participate.

The final round of the 'FIRST® Tech Challenge Vietnam (FTC Vietnam) 2023-2024' robot tournament was held by FPT University on February 24 in Hanoi. In this round, more than 270 students from grades 7 to 12 from 26 teams from high schools across the country competed.

The theme of the FTC Vietnam 2023-2024 final round is “Young generation creates the future”. The teams are required to use some basic equipment similar to international standards from the organizers such as basic KIT equipment including control circuits, motors, sensors. The teams are free to apply their knowledge, programming skills, mechanical structures, etc. to design robot products to solve the problems from the organizers.

In the designated competition area, the organizing committee of the FTC Vietnam 2023-2024 final round has arranged many obstacles and challenges for the robots' operating ability. In particular, the robots are required to have 30 seconds of autonomy. This is considered a big challenge for the competing teams and robots.

The teams need to build and operate robots that can draw pictures, do creative work with humans, and even “play” with paper airplanes created by the teams themselves. By overcoming obstacles or completing challenges, the robots will receive corresponding points. In each round, 2-3 teams will be randomly paired into an alliance. The winning alliance will advance to the next round.

In the final result, the FPT3DN.Robotown team from FPT Da Nang High School was the best team in the final round of FTC Vietnam 2023 - 2024. With this result, the Da Nang student group will represent Vietnamese students to participate in the global final round of 'FIRST® Champion' taking place in the US in April 2024.

The prize for the FPT3DN.Robotown team is a FIRST® standard robot kit for use in the global finals, along with travel and accommodation expenses to participate in the tournament, with a total value of up to 300 million VND.

In addition to organizing the FTC Vietnam 2023-2024 tournament, to support high school students nationwide to get acquainted with the competition format and experience new robot knowledge and technology, recently, FPT University has organized the Open Robotics Challenge (VORC) program online and offline at the Da Nang and Can Tho campuses.

In recent years, Vietnamese students have become increasingly interested in technology and are quickly catching up with the world's technology trends. Therefore, playgrounds like FTC Vietnam have been contributing to building a community of young people who love technology, developing the movement of studying, researching, and practicing science and technology.
