After primary and secondary school, from the 2025-2026 school year, all students from kindergarten to high school in Ho Chi Minh City (including private schools) will be exempt from tuition fees.
On February 20, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council officially approved the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue a resolution on special policies to support tuition fees for preschool children under 5 years old and public and non-public high school students from the 2025-2026 school year.
Accordingly, with the above support policy, preschool children under 5 years old and public high school students will not have to pay tuition fees. Students at non-public schools (except schools with foreign investment) will receive support equal to the tuition fees of public schools from the budget.
Currently, monthly tuition fees at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City range from 100,000 to 200,000 VND/student depending on the group. It is known that the estimated budget for implementing the tuition support policy is 653 billion VND/year. Of which, the budget for implementing tuition support for preschool children and high school students in public schools is 423 billion VND, and non-public schools is 230 billion VND.
Thus, from the 2025-2026 school year, all students studying at all levels, both public and non-public (except international schools) in Ho Chi Minh City will be completely exempted from monthly tuition fees. According to statistics in recent years, there are about 1.7 million students from preschool to high school in Ho Chi Minh City. The complete exemption of tuition fees is a "gift", truly good news for many parents and students, especially for parents who are poor, workers, laborers or immigrants from other provinces.
