Reporter Thach Hong/VOV-Denmark reports that, joining the joyful atmosphere of millions of teachers and students across the country, this morning (September 5), teachers and students of 475 schools (458 public schools, 17 non-public schools) in Soc Trang province will solemnly hold the Opening Ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Soc Trang province, there are 40 high schools (39 public schools, 1 non-public school); 108 middle schools (106 public schools, 2 non-public schools); 197 primary schools (195 public schools, 2 non-public schools); 130 preschool - kindergarten schools (118 public schools, 12 non-public schools). Compared to the 2023 - 2024 school year, this school year has 4 fewer schools.
In preparation for this new school year, Soc Trang province is very interested in building a network of schools and classes to gradually ensure that they meet the learning conditions of students. The sector has arranged to gradually eliminate isolated locations, makeshift classrooms, and reduce schools with inadequate conditions to concentrate students in places with favorable conditions and upgraded facilities. From there, students can enjoy fairness in education and the quality of education is improved.
Mr. Trinh Van Be, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran De district, Soc Trang province, said that up to now, the whole district has 41/46 schools meeting national standards, a rate of over 89%. Before the new school year 2024-2025, preparations in Tran De district have been actively implemented. The district has directed schools to review facilities and teaching equipment to ensure the best conditions for the opening of the new school year. Accordingly, repairs, renovations and upgrades of facilities have been carried out at 24 schools with a total cost of more than 23.2 billion VND; additional desks, chairs, boards, equipment, etc. have been purchased for schools with a total cost of more than 3.5 billion VND. With the investment in renovating facilities and purchasing equipment as above, the conditions for implementing the 2018 General Education Program have basically been ensured in all grades from grade 1 to grade 9.
In addition, the work of mobilizing and caring for students to go to school, especially those in remote areas, areas with particularly difficult economic and social conditions, and areas with a large ethnic minority population, is being promoted with the goal of ensuring that all school-age students can go to school and improve the quality of comprehensive education in the locality.
