Currently, students graduating from junior high school (grade 9) can register to study at intermediate level at vocational schools and study cultural subjects in parallel with grades 10, 11, 12 under the regular education system. After that, they can take the national high school graduation exam and continue to study at college or university. This is a path that saves time and costs, and is suitable for the learning capacity of many students.
For 12th graders, after graduating from high school, vocational colleges are becoming a practical choice instead of following the traditional university path. The college system not only shortens the training time (2.5 years) but also creates conditions for early access to practical careers and solid job opportunities.
Currently, there are two vocational training facilities in the province that are reliable addresses for students and parents to choose early vocational training, which are Phu Yen Vocational College and Central Industry and Trade College (MITC).
For Phu Yen Vocational College, in 2025, the school has a total enrollment target of 2,399 students, organizing diverse training in three levels: college (13 occupations, 345 targets), intermediate (19 occupations, 525 targets), primary (11 occupations and driver training majors with 1,529 targets).
Meanwhile, MITC enrolls 2,400 students at college and intermediate levels. Of which, 1,200 are for college and 1,200 are for intermediate level. The total number of training majors, college level is 25 majors, intermediate level is 25 majors.
Some key occupations that are receiving attention from society include: Industrial Electricity, Food Processing Engineering, Seafood Processing and Preservation; ASEAN key occupations include: Automotive Technology, Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing; International key occupation: Hotel Management.
Comprehensive support policy, encouraging learning
Currently, both Phu Yen Vocational College and MITC have comprehensive support policies to encourage learning. Dr. Vo Thi My Nga, Director of MITC's Admissions and Student Care Center, said that every year the school sets aside a budget to award scholarships to encourage students who pass the entrance exam (20 full-course scholarships for candidates with a 2025 high school graduation exam score above 20 points).
In addition, the school also decentralizes many policy groups to exempt and reduce tuition fees at college and intermediate levels with the levels of 50%, 70% and 100% of tuition fees. Students and parents can contact the school directly (Facility 1, No. 261 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Tuy Hoa City) for specific instructions.
Similarly, Phu Yen Vocational College also has a very attractive policy of tuition exemption, scholarships, and learning encouragement. Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Vice Principal of the school, said: The school exempts tuition fees for secondary school graduates studying vocational intermediate level; reduces 70% of tuition fees for some key majors at the college level. The school's scholarships to encourage learning are up to 35 million VND/student for students with good and excellent academic performance.
Students studying majors such as welding, mechanical equipment manufacturing, automotive technology, fashion sewing, industrial electricity, food processing technology and biotechnology will receive a 70% reduction in tuition fees - an extremely practical policy in the context of educational costs being a burden for many families.
Not only that, the above training institutions are committed to providing students with access to a modern learning environment, with close links to businesses, creating conditions for practice and internship during the learning process. Students and graduates are guaranteed to have over 90% of jobs suitable for their majors.
In the current context, practical skills and problem-solving abilities become the key to success. Reality proves that: vocational training is a smart, modern choice, in line with the sustainable development trend and practical human resource needs of society.
Over the years, with a variety of training occupations and training programs linked to production and business practices, vocational training institutions have annually provided the labor market with a large number of skilled human resources who can work immediately, without businesses having to retrain them, contributing to solving the problem of high-quality technical human resources. For learners, vocational training has opened a new, sustainable path.
