"Bui Long Bien Teacher" Scholarship helps poor students overcome difficulties

Each scholarship worth 10 million VND not only provides material support, but also a strong source of spiritual support from a teacher who has devoted his life to theeducation career at this traditional school. Previously, on March 22, Associate Professor Bui Long Bien, former senior lecturer of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, from 1960 to 2002, and his family donated 1 billion VND to establish a scholarship fund for disadvantaged students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

At the award ceremony, teacher Bui Long Bien could not hide his emotions when sharing about his deep attachment to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the place that marked his youthful years and brought great happiness in his teaching career.

“I am very touched, establishing this scholarship fund is my dream. It stems from my own upbringing in a poor family, having to both study and work to nurture my knowledge. I also benefited from the changes in the country after the revolution. When I look at the young generation, who are carrying on their shoulders the mission of studying and cultivating to become talented people, contributing to the country, I see more clearly my responsibility. Hopefully, with this scholarship fund, students can confidently study, overcome adversity to continue nurturing their dreams”, Associate Professor Bui Long Bien shared.

“When I learned that I had received the scholarship fund from Mr. Bui Long Bien, I was very happy and excited. I promise to always strive to study hard and use the money from the scholarship fund for the right purpose, to be worthy of the trust that the teacher and the school have given me. This gift will be a valuable asset, giving me more motivation on the path to conquer knowledge ahead,” said Ma Thi Thu Ha, a student of the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences , Hanoi University of Science and Technology, emotionally.

When asked about the special significance of the "Teacher Bui Long Bien" scholarship fund, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology shared, "I am very touched, teacher Bui Long Bien is now nearly 90 years old, but still always follows, worries and devotes all his heart to the young generation. That is an extremely noble gesture, demonstrating the spirit, responsibility and heart of a teacher who devotes his life to his students."

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Khiem also expressed that currently, the school has many scholarship funds with many different forms of support, but the scholarship fund founded by Mr. Bui Long Bien has a special value. “One billion VND is not a small amount of money, but what makes us appreciate it the most is the profound human meaning that Mr. Bui Long Bien sends through this gift. It is not only material support, but also spiritual support, a bridge between generations, from the predecessors to the young generation today. Through that, Mr. Bui Long Bien not only helps the students overcome difficulties in studying, but also sends great faith and expectations for the future of the students, those who will follow in the footsteps, build and develop the country in the future”.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Khiem, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, expressed his emotion at the kindness of teacher Bui Long Bien towards the generation of students at the school.

From this scholarship fund, Associate Professor Bui Long Bien believes that the difficulties that students are facing today will only be small challenges in the long journey ahead, because there is always companionship and support from the school and teachers.

The scholarship fund named after Associate Professor Bui Long Bien will continue to accompany and maintain students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the next 5 years, with two scholarship awards each year, becoming a lasting source of encouragement, giving wings to dreams to fly far.
