At the end of the first quarter of 2025, the industrial production index (IIP) in Binh Thuan increased by 7.15% over the same period last year, with the processing and manufacturing industry increasing the most with more than 11%. Accordingly, the labor utilization index in this sector increased by 8.86% while some other industries decreased compared to the same period (mining industry decreased by 24.52%, electricity production and distribution decreased by 0.49%...). With the consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry in the first quarter also reaching an increase of 16.14%, it is noteworthy that some industries increased significantly compared to the same period, such as: Production of paper and paper products increased by more than 67%; production of leather and related products increased by 56.88%; wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo and rattan (except beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs) increased by nearly 40%; garment production increased by 22.52%; Production of other non-metallic mineral products increased by 9.37%...

At the same time, a survey of the local processing and manufacturing industry showed that 25.76% of enterprises assessed the production and business situation as better than the previous quarter, while 43.94% felt it was difficult and 30.3% thought it was stable. Among non-state enterprises, 23.64% assessed the situation as improving, while 47.27% thought the situation remained the same and 29.09% felt it was getting more difficult. However, in reality, the production and business activities of most enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry are also affected by many factors. Especially due to low domestic and international market demand, while domestic competition and competition from imported goods are high. In addition, the shortage of raw materials, financial difficulties or high loan interest rates, inability to recruit workers as required... have more or less affected the production and business of enterprises.
Entering the second quarter of 2025, businesses operating in the processing and manufacturing industry in Binh Thuan expect the situation to develop in a positive direction. This is reflected in the rate of up to 77.27% of businesses expecting stable and better production and business activities (including 46.97% assessing the trend as better and 30.3% saying it will continue to be stable), the remaining 22.73% predicting more difficulties...
However, in the context of the world economy facing many challenges from the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine, slowing global growth and especially the new US tariff policy will significantly affect the production and business of enterprises nationwide in general and Binh Thuan in particular. Therefore, in the coming time, localities and relevant departments and agencies need to continue to pay attention to providing practical support to enterprises, especially strengthening trade promotion to expand and diversify markets, promptly updating information on economic developments, domestic and foreign consumption demand, etc.
For businesses in the construction sector, the survey results on production and business activity trends in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 showed that: 10.2% of businesses said that operations were more favorable, the remaining 30.6% said it was stable and 59.2% felt more difficult.
