Activities of the first working day of the 8th Central Conference, 13th term

The 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee opened on the morning of October 2 in Hanoi.

In the morning, the Party Central Committee worked at the Hall.

Before the Conference, the Party Central Committee observed a minute of silence in memory of the unfortunate victims who died due to recent natural disasters and fires, and comrade Le Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister, who recently passed away.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired and delivered the opening speech at the Conference.

Comrade Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and President, chaired the meeting on behalf of the Politburo.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, on behalf of the Politburo, reported on the Program of the 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The Party Central Committee decided to take disciplinary action by removing from all Party positions comrade Le Duc Tho (member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee) and comrade Trinh Van Chien (former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Delegation, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee).

The Party Central Committee voted and agreed to let comrade Dieu K're (Party Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Secretary of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee) cease to hold the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

In the afternoon, the Party Central Committee worked in groups to discuss the socio-economic situation, the state budget in 2023, the plan for 2024, the 3-year state financial and budget plan for 2024-2026 and the roadmap for implementing the new salary regime.
