Village elder Ksor H'Lam, a soldier in wartime and peacetime

From Krong village, Ia Mor commune, Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province, village elder Ksor H'Lam went to Hanoi to attend the Historical Road program.

This year, Mrs. Ksor H'Lam turns 80 years old. Recalling her journey to becoming one of the rare female village elders in the Central Highlands, she said, "People say that whoever has prestige, ability to do things and understands the villagers will be elected."

During the war against America, old lady Ksor H'Lam was a brave female soldier; in peacetime, as a village elder, she helped her people develop the economy and eliminate backward customs.

Having been a village elder for 30 years, village elder Ksor H'Lam said the secret to keeping the village peaceful on the border is to "disseminate information about security and order to the people; if there are strangers, they must report to the border guards and authorities."

Coming here, the village elder did not forget to bring baskets of potatoes, cassava, corn, brocade fabric... "It's not anything of great value, but it was made with the hearts and hands of the people, and given to the soldiers", Mrs. Ksor H'Lam sincerely recounted.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, took the stage to present the 80th anniversary badge of the Vietnam People's Army to village elder Ksor H'Lam, becoming one of the memorable moments of the program.

Unforgettable historical roads

The program recalls the roads that have been recorded in the modern history of Vietnam. That is the Ho Chi Minh Trail, one of the symbolic roads of Vietnam's will, with a total length of more than 20,000km across the North - South and 3 Indochinese countries.

This is the road that, according to General William C. Westmoreland, former commander of the US military in Vietnam, "the most modern weapons and equipment of the US could not prevent the strategic transportation route of the North Vietnamese army."

“Every time it is destroyed, it is reborn,” said historian Chris Appy. “The ardent patriotism and belief in victory are what give the trail network its unquenchable vitality.”

A declassified report by the US National Security Agency called it “one of the great achievements of military engineering in the 20th century.”

The pictures of children drawing soldiers are also touching images of the program.

Television viewers also had the opportunity to watch the report The Sea Route of the Ships Without Numbers , which told about the secret trips, which were the people's protection despite the danger for the soldiers at the ports where the ships docked.

The story of veteran Le Van Not, crew member of ship 401; former guerrilla of Lo Dieu village Tran Van Dich... revives heroic memories of ship 401, the first ship without a number to dock at Lo Dieu, Hoai Nhon, Binh Dinh.

This was one of hundreds of trains that completed its historic mission, along with other unnumbered trains that transported 150 thousand tons of weapons, ammunition, medicine and thousands of cadres to support the southern battlefield.

Spectacular political art program

The Road of History is a special political art program. Not only does it have reports, documentary images, and character interviews, but it also has many elaborate and spectacular performances.

The program opened with the song "For the people, forget yourself", followed by "Our army, the heroic army" . 1,800 soldiers from the navy, army, air defense - air force, military band and honor guard performed a grand performance.

Notably, the musical is a highlight of the program. The character of the baby Hong, based on the character in the memoir From the People by General Vo Nguyen Giap, was chosen as the artistic image throughout.

Among them, the musicals The First Battle Must Win and Where There Are Enemies make the program The Historical Path even more tragic.

People's Artist Quang Tho and the Time Stream group bring the heroic melodies of the song Dien Bien Victory .

Duc Tuan performed the Viet Minh Flag and People's Artist Ta Minh Tam appeared and sang the song We Go to Battle Today , along with hundreds of soldiers reenacting the scene of marching to the front, adding to the grand scene of a historical path of the entire nation.
