Japanese Crown Prince and Princess wave to people in Hoi An ancient town

(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of September 23, a delegation of Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko visited Hoi An ancient town, Quang Nam.

Welcoming Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko in Hoi An ancient town were Mr. Phan Viet Cuong - Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and leaders of provincial departments and branches. In Hoi An ancient town, the Japanese Royal delegation strolled around in the beautiful weather; visited the model of the Goshuin Ship, the Japanese Covered Bridge relic, and the Japanese cultural exhibition house.

The Japanese Crown Prince and Princess waved to locals and tourists on the streets of the ancient town of Hoi An - Faifo Port from the 17th century was a destination for Japanese merchant ships, as evidence of the love story of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony for the Japanese Royal delegation, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong expressed his honor to welcome the Japanese Crown Prince and Princess.

Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee informed about the cooperation results of Quang Nam province with Japanese provinces and cities, and impressive investment figures of Japan in Quang Nam province.

To date, the Japanese Government has funded Quang Nam to implement many projects with a total accumulated ODA capital of nearly 830 million USD.

Japanese investors have invested in 18 projects in Quang Nam province with a total capital of more than 139 million USD, mainly in the fields of industry, tourism and services. In the first 6 months of the year, nearly 10,000 Japanese visitors stayed in Quang Nam. Since 2020, Japanese non-governmental organizations have provided Quang Nam province with a total aid capital of more than 1 million USD to support solving issues in health, education and small-scale industry.

The leaders of Quang Nam province hope that the Crown Prince and Princess will continue to pay much attention to promoting the friendly cooperation between the two countries in general, and between Quang Nam province - Vietnam and Japanese partners and localities in particular, to develop more and more. Japanese Crown Prince Akishino shared that this visit to Vietnam is of special significance, being the first official foreign visit of the Crown Prince and Princess after the Covid-19 pandemic. This is also the first visit to Vietnam by the Japanese Royal Family after 6 years since the visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress in 2017. "I am very pleased to return to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. This is the first time I have visited Quang Nam province and Hoi An city. However, I have been told a lot about Hoi An as a very interesting city, so I am very happy to visit Hoi An ancient town today," said Japanese Crown Prince Akishino.
