Hoai An: Meeting to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Go Loi Victory

On the morning of April 9, at the People's Committee of An Tuong Tay commune, the Party Committee and people of An Tuong Tay and An Tuong Dong communes (Hoai An district) solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the Go Loi Victory (April 9, 1972 - April 9, 2025).

In a solemn and proud atmosphere, the delegates together reviewed the heroic traditions of the army and people of the two communes during the years of resistance against the US to save the country. Exactly 53 years ago, the Go Loi stronghold - the "steel door" built by the US in 1966 - guarded a strategic position in the southwest of Hoai An district, considered one of the most fortified strongholds in northern Binh Dinh. In early 1972, the 40th Special Forces Battalion, 3rd Sao Vang Division was assigned the key task: leveling Go Loi, opening the Spring - Summer campaign of 1972. With the spirit of "No matter how fierce the difficulties, we must win", our army made a resounding battle, opening the way to completely liberate Hoai An district and neighboring areas. The Go Loi victory became a highlight in the history of the local revolutionary struggle, contributing to the overall victory of the Spring - Summer campaign that year.

From the flames of war to the renovation process, the Party Committee, army and people of An Tuong (now An Tuong Dong and An Tuong Tay communes) continued to promote the revolutionary tradition, solidarity, innovation, utilize internal resources, effectively exploit potentials, and make good use of investment resources to gradually build an increasingly prosperous homeland.

On this occasion, the Party Committees of the two communes presented 16 gifts to policy families and disadvantaged households in the area, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", continuing the tradition of gratitude of the revolutionary homeland.
