(Dan Tri) - Giant paintings, painted with luminous materials by a group of young artists in Ho Chi Minh City, have been exported to many countries around the world. Many paintings cost no less than 100 million VND.
On the Tiktok page with more than 235,000 followers, Mr. Vo Duc Du (29 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) made many people admire his glowing Asian dragon painting, 14m long, 2.1m high and weighing up to 30kg. This is the longest painting that he and his team have ever worked hard to create, taking up to 15 days to complete. A Vietnamese customer living in the US ordered this painting for more than 100 million VND, to display on the opening day of a restaurant named Long. The shipping cost alone "increased" the amount by 12-15 million VND.

"The group failed in the first attempt because they couldn't find a place to stretch the canvas. At first, we spread the canvas on the ground so we couldn't figure out the layout. The wall wasn't 14m long enough, so we decided to stretch half of it to paint first, then stretch the other half to finish it," said Mr. Du. According to Mr. Du, his paintings are often painted in metallic colors, combined with Decola and luminous colors, colors that are rarely used in traditional paintings, showing the creativity of the artist. The canvas for the paintings was also imported from Russia to Vietnam. The special feature of the paintings is not only the huge size and the glowing effect, but also the many details plated with real gold with a total value of more than 10 million VND. In addition to this special painting, Mr. Du shared that in 11 years of pursuing this creative art, he and his group have created hundreds of 3D paintings. Among them, the largest painting he has ever made is a 35m2 rose tree painting, worth more than 160 million VND.

The painting requires the craftsman to have a high aesthetic sense and go through many complicated stages (Photo: Character provided).
"In addition to being large in size, expensive paintings are also designed according to customers' preferences. Customers mainly know about our craftsmanship and then recommend them to other customers," Mr. Du shared. On average, his workshop will make 7-10 paintings each month. The price of a painting also depends on the fabric material and size, ranging from 2.5-5 million VND/m2. To complete a product, the craftsman must go through many stages, requiring meticulousness and patience. First, Mr. Du will come up with an idea first, build a layout, sketch and build the image on the fabric first, then color the painting. The coloring stage is the most important and time-consuming part. Because if a stroke is wrong or the color is not mixed correctly, the craftsman will have to discard the entire painting and start over. Finally, Mr. Du will apply a layer of glue to protect the painting from damage during transportation and use. "Every detail from the strokes to the colors must have meaning. Because that determines whether the painting brings value to customers or not," said Mr. Du.

Previously, Du learned about and soon "fell in love" with the art of 3D painting from a close friend. At first, the young man encountered many difficulties because he had not been trained in any school. Du had to research, learn, and practice on his own through materials on the internet, books, and newspapers at home and abroad. Countless failures made the young man even more motivated to conquer this unique art form. "If you have passion, a desire to learn, and perseverance, you can succeed in anything you do. I have never regretted trying to pursue my passion that day. Now, I have also reaped many sweet fruits, repaying my previous efforts."
