Currently, voluntary blood donation (VBD) in Hoa Lu district has become a vibrant and meaningful activity, with many typical individuals and families, contributing to "fueling" the province's voluntary blood donation movement.
Teacher Tran Thi My Ngoc, a teacher at Truong Yen Kindergarten, has participated in the Blood Donation Campaign 15 times. Sharing about this meaningful work, Ms. Ngoc said that through the mass media, especially working in an educational environment, caring for children, she realized the need to set an example for children in volunteer work, for the community, so she regularly participates in the Blood Donation Campaign 2-3 times a year depending on her blood needs and her own health.
"Nearly ten years ago, realizing that HMTN is a meaningful activity that helps many people, I mobilized relatives, friends, and colleagues to participate. In my family, my husband and two children have also donated blood many times. My female colleagues at Truong Yen Kindergarten also actively participate, continuously achieving and exceeding the assigned targets every year... I feel happy to be able to contribute to useful activities that have a widespread meaning in society..." - Ms. My Ngoc said.
For Ms. Lam Thi Thuong, La Mai village, Ninh Giang commune, who has participated in HMTN 23 times, this meaningful work comes from her job, which is selling vegetarian food. Ms. Thuong said that she always thinks that each person only has one life, so she should live it in the most meaningful way, by doing as many humanitarian and charitable things as possible for the community and society.
"So every time I participate in the Blood Donation Campaign, I often do not pay attention to keeping the documents that have been recognized for blood donation over time. But for more than ten years now, I have regularly participated in the Blood Donation Campaign, 1-2 times a year, each time 300-350ml of blood. I feel happy and secure that after donating blood, I am still healthy, full of life and joy to do the work I love. For me, as long as I am healthy and within the right age, I will continue to participate in the Blood Donation Campaign..." - Ms. Lam Thi Thuong affirmed.
During the Hoa Lu District Blood Donation Steering Committee's 2023 Blood Donation Program organized by Hoa Lu District with the theme "Every drop of blood given, a life remains" on a day at the end of July 2023, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan, Head of the Women's Association of Dong Quan Village, Ninh Van Commune, mobilized more than 40 people in the village and commune to participate, exceeding the assigned plan many times.
Previously, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan's family was recognized by the Ninh Binh Provincial Blood Donation Steering Committee and awarded the title of Outstanding Blood Donor Family in 2023 when Ms. Lan herself donated blood 12 times, while her sons, daughters and son-in-law also actively participated many times. With 5 family members donating blood a total of 28 times, they are eligible to meet the criteria of an outstanding blood donor family in the province.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lan said: As a cadre of the Women's Union, she herself realizes the significance and necessity of humanitarian blood donation, so in the propaganda sessions, mobilizing women to participate in the movements of the Union, she always cooperates to propagate and mobilize. Moreover, she herself has directly donated blood dozens of times and is still in good health, which is a vivid proof for women in the village and neighborhood to believe and follow... From there, it has spread to many families, both husband and wife have registered to participate.
Mr. Nguyen Giang Nam, Chairman of the Hoa Lu District Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Blood Donation in Hoa Lu District, said: In recent years, the blood donation movement in the district has developed and spread more and more widely among all classes of people. Among them, many outstanding individuals and families, many generations have actively participated in the movement with dozens of blood donations.
"We determined that HMTN is not only to save the immediate lives of today's patients, but more broadly and meaningfully, it is to spread and sow more "seeds" of compassion and sharing in social life. Therefore, along with propaganda and mobilization work, the Red Cross at all levels has mobilized and built clubs and blood groups with enthusiastic, responsible volunteers, operating sustainably, ready to donate blood suddenly when patients and medical facilities need blood..." - Mr. Nam shared.
Thanks to the good work of propaganda, mobilization, and voluntary blood donation movement, in recent years, Hoa Lu district has always completed and exceeded the assigned voluntary blood donation plan. In 2022, it reached 253% of the plan; in the first 6 months of 2023, the first voluntary blood donation program was organized, mobilizing nearly 600 participants, receiving 500 units of blood, exceeding the set plan. In the district, there are many individuals and families who are typical examples in the voluntary blood donation movement, not only participating in blood donation, but also actively mobilizing their families, relatives and the community to participate in blood donation.
To maintain and widely spread the blood donation movement in Hoa Lu district, in the coming time, the District Blood Donation Steering Committee will continue to promote propaganda work among all classes of people, in forms such as directly, through the three-level radio station, through typical examples that are propagated and replicated... to continue to have more people actively and willingly participate in blood donation, to avoid the situation of patients having to wait for blood, and medical facilities lacking blood in treatment.
