Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the first eight months reached 40.08 billion USD. Of which, the United States surpassed China to become the import market with the largest value.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 8 months of the year, Vietnam's total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 40.08 billion USD, while imports reached 28.28 billion USD. Thanks to that, the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector had a trade surplus of 11.8 billion USD, up 68.4% over the same period last year.
Notably, the United States has surpassed China to become Vietnam's largest import market for agricultural, forestry and fishery products in eight months.
Specifically, total export turnover to the US reached 8.58 billion USD, accounting for 21.4% of total turnover and increasing by 23.5% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, export turnover to China reached 8.17 billion USD, accounting for 20.4% of total turnover and increasing by 10.2%.
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that China was the largest import market for agricultural, forestry and fishery products from Vietnam in 2023, accounting for 23.2% of the total export turnover of this industry. However, this trend changed in the first 8 months of this year.
