Miss Mai Phuong: A discreet official, youthful beauty at 40

After being crowned Miss Vietnam 2002, Miss Mai Phuong did not work in showbiz. Instead, she pursued her studies and became a civil servant in her hometown.

Currently, besides work, the beauty queen mainly spends time taking care of her small family with 2 sons.

Designer Minh Chau said that when he texted to express his feelings, he was mentally prepared to be rejected, because he understood his senior's personality and choices.

However, because of trust and friendship with her junior, Mai Phuong decided to arrange her work to fly from Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City to take this photo series, then return to her daily life.

The purple ao dai keeps the traditional shape, with the highlight being the mesh detail on the outside, creating a new look for the wearer.

The designer revealed that Miss Mai Phuong is meticulous and a perfectionist. Therefore, he chose 3 new ao dai designs to help highlight her youthful beauty and slim figure.

Having been away from the spotlight for quite a while, Miss Mai Phuong was initially a bit confused when posing in front of the camera. However, after being encouraged by her juniors, she became more comfortable and brought impressive moments.

The green ao dai features stylized details on the sleeves and collar, along with an elaborate back flap.

“She made me feel close and comfortable when working together. Meeting her, I was overwhelmed with emotion as I remembered the time I watched the competitions on television,” Dang Trong Minh Chau shared.

The remaining green ao dai was inspired by the outfit Mai Phuong wore during her coronation more than 20 years ago.

He was especially impressed with Miss Mai Phuong's bare face, so he proactively told the crew to choose a simple makeup style to preserve her inherent beauty.

One of the reasons the beauty queen accepted the photo shoot was because she loves ao dai. The beauty from Hai Phong also praised the designer for the outfits that combine modern and traditional elements, creating a new look.

"I hope this photo series will be well received by everyone and who knows, maybe in the future, I will be able to fulfill my dream of 'kidnapping' Ms. Mai Phuong onto the catwalk," he said.

The beauty queen's full name is Pham Thi Mai Phuong, from Hai Phong. She won the crown of Miss Vietnam 2002 when she was only 17 years old, and was a student majoring in Physics at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.

The beauty is 1.69m tall, with measurements of 84-59-86 cm. In 2003, she competed in Miss World and made it into the top 20. She currently has a happy family with her husband and two sons.
