On June 19, the authorities of Ngoc Lap commune (Yen Lap district, Phu Tho) said they were coordinating with relevant agencies to clarify the cause of the serious land subsidence at a house in Ba Dan 2 area of ​​the commune.

Mr. Dinh Xuan Hon, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngoc Lap commune, said that the subsidence phenomenon is still continuing, so the authorities have to set up a warning zone around the house.

According to records, the ground subsided and tilted, causing the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Hung and Ms. Dinh Thi Kieu Xuan to crack and collapse. A large hole appeared in the front yard, about 3-4 meters deep.

Mr. Hung said the subsidence occurred at around 1am on June 18 after a few explosions. In the morning, he saw the wall of his house cracking and collapsed, so he immediately called the authorities for assistance.

The subsidence range is determined within a radius of 20 meters, on a flat land area of ​​about 5,000 m2.

Ngoc Lap commune leaders said that recently there has been no construction or repair work around Hung’s house. There used to be a quarry in the area but it has not been in operation for nearly ten years.

" Mr. Hung's family has to temporarily stay at his brother's house. We remind people to limit travel near the subsidence area, and are quickly investigating the cause, " said the Chairman of Ngoc Lap commune.
