Livelihood support helps people escape poverty

The project of raising cows and buffaloes for reproduction linked to the value chain under Project 3, the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2021-2025, implemented in Kiet Son commune, Tan Son district, has brought opportunities to develop household economy, increase income and sustainably reduce poverty for ethnic minorities here...

Mrs. Dinh Thi Hien's household was supported with a pair of Sind crossbred cows under the National Target Program 1719.

As one of the communes selected to implement the project of raising Sind crossbred cattle for breeding, Kiet Son has 41 poor and near-poor households receiving support. Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Cuong - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "The evaluation of households receiving support is public and democratic, with priority given to households with labor and conditions for grazing cows. Households are provided with breeds by the Lua Vang Agricultural Production and General Service Cooperative, and are also instructed on care and breeding techniques."

Ms. Dinh Thi Hien in Zone 4, Kiet Son Commune received support for a pair of breeding Sind crossbred cows more than two months ago. With support from the Project, she has carefully built a sheltered barn and also prepared straw as food for the cows to proactively avoid the cold. The cows have grown well thanks to proper care. Ms. Hien shared: “My family has many children and is in financial difficulty. Now that I have been supported with breeding cows, I am very happy. I will take good care of them, hoping to escape poverty soon.”

The implementation of the project of raising cows and buffaloes for reproduction in Kiet Son commune has contributed to supporting poor and near-poor households in developing their family economy, increasing income, sustainably reducing poverty for ethnic minorities, and effectively promoting economic policies and solutions suitable to local conditions.
