Support nearly 719 million VND to compensate for domestic water price for Be Island

(Baoquangngai.vn)- Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang has agreed to provide financial support to Ly Son district to compensate for domestic water prices at the seawater filtration plant on An Binh island (Be island).

The total budget to support the implementation of domestic water price compensation at An Binh Seawater to Fresh Water Plant is nearly 719 million VND.

In August 2012, the An Binh Seawater to Fresh Water Plant was invested in and built, donated by Doosan Enerbility Vietnam Co., Ltd. The total investment cost of the plant is about 20 billion VND. According to the installation design, the plant has a seawater to fresh water desalination capacity of about 100m3/day and night, meeting 60 - 70% of the fresh water demand for essential daily use of people on Be Island.

Domestic water is transported from Big Island to Small Island (Ly Son).

However, the plant is currently operating at only 47% of its designed capacity, not enough to meet the daily needs of the people. To have enough water for use, people have to store rainwater in tanks. During the hot season, people buy water from Big Island at a price of 250,000 - 300,000 VND/m3.
