A workshop on cross-border e-commerce applications took place in Hai Phong to support more than 100 businesses participating in online import-export platforms.
This afternoon (December 12), the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Korea Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (KOSME), and Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade jointly organized a workshop to share skills and knowledge in applying cross-border e-commerce.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu - Head of International Cooperation Department, Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - said: Hai Phong is one of the localities actively participating in e-commerce activities. According to the Vietnam e-commerce index report published by the Vietnam E-commerce Association, Hai Phong ranked 5th in the country in terms of e-commerce index in 2024. Hai Phong has synchronous infrastructure, especially logistics infrastructure. Along with that, the e-commerce application capacity of businesses and people in the city is constantly developing in both quantity and quality. This is an opportunity and potential for e-commerce development in the present and future in Hai Phong city.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, the sharing program has the participation of many organizations and enterprises from Korea - one of the countries with the largest import-export turnover with Vietnam. Increasing trade exchange, especially in the field of e-commerce, aims to promote trade relations between the two countries. Enterprises in Hai Phong have the opportunity to learn from the experience of a country in the top 5 largest e-commerce markets in the world.

According to Mr. Chang Yu-jun - Head of Global Cooperation Department, Korea SME Promotion Agency, Korea is one of the countries investing heavily in Vietnam, focusing on the fields of electronics, home appliances, construction, and auto parts. SMEs play a central role in economic growth and trade between the two countries. As a government agency supporting the development of SMEs, Korea SME Promotion Agency is focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises in many areas such as policy funds, export marketing, human resource development, start-up support, and technology.
Mr. Chang Yu-jun emphasized: The Korea Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency will support outstanding Vietnamese small and medium enterprises to improve their competitiveness in the global market.
At the program, more than 100 Hai Phong enterprises were shared and supported in applying cross-border e-commerce by representatives of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, representatives of KOSME, the Center for Information Technology and Digital Technology and experts, such as: Overview of cross-border e-commerce; introduction of Korea's online export platform and report on project implementation results in 2024; instructions on online export for small and medium enterprises to micro enterprises; strategies for participating in online export for small and medium enterprises to micro enterprises. At the same time, delegates shared experiences in accessing global markets through e-commerce, with special emphasis on the need for Vietnamese enterprises to understand the needs and tastes of foreign markets, including the Korean market.

Mr. Ta Dinh Kinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Tan Vu Cooperative, Hai An District, Hai Phong City shared: The workshop program helps businesses better understand cross-border e-commerce. Through practical content in accessing the global market, small and medium enterprises as well as cooperatives will have a clearer picture to approach and proactively participate in online import-export platforms.
According to the representative of the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade, in Hai Phong City, revenue from e-commerce accounts for about 16-18% of total retail sales of goods. Every year, 55-60% of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the commercial sector participate in domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms. Grasping the e-commerce trend, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade regularly supports and guides enterprises, cooperatives, and small traders to participate in domestic and international e-commerce trading platforms such as Alibaba, Shopee, Lazada, and Sendo. Support enterprises in registering and notifying e-commerce websites to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Along with that are activities to promote the image of enterprises, typical products of Hai Phong as well as promote trading activities on e-commerce platforms./.
